"Good Call Plumbing is a fitting name for this company. I had them upgrade the inside water shut off valves for our faucets and toilets, plus the outside water spigot for our home. Steve the owner was a pleasure to work with and he provided a competitive quote. His plumbers: Jake and Zak were absolutely fantastic, they were professional, knowledgeable, customer friendly, finished the job on time and treated our home with great respect. I highly recommend them for your plumbing needs, Five Stars!"

"RJ Graham Plumbing was working on a job and scheduled me in for right after they finished the job. They arrived at 4:15, right after they finished the previous job, and worked until after 8 pm until the install of new 50 gallon water heater and all connections and parts were installed and old hot water heater (that died that morning with water all over the furnace room and laundry room floors, which fortunately is concrete and has a drain) removed. They did an excellent job. This company is reliable and we have used their services before."

"Todd Yeates, the owner of Accurate Home Repair, did the installation, and the door looks great. He fitted it in well so that it seals nicely and closes easily. He was very professional and I am happy with both the results and the reasonable cost."

"This was our second experience with River Oak Cabinetry and Design and, like the bathroom remodel they did, this kitchen remodel was great! It's been a few months since completion and we have already received many complements from family, friends and neighbors that should be passed on to River Oak. Patty and Leo, the owners, once again took care of everything in a hands-on professional manner. They always communicated schedules, arrival times for subs and quickly responded to our questions or concerns. Since we had the kitchen gutted and several electrical changes and additions, it was a blessing to have them work with the electricians and city inspectors to make sure everything was properly installed; the changes were extensive. Kevin, the cabinet designer, came up with designs that allowed for double the cabinet space and Patty's overall design makes for a much more functional and comfortable kitchen. From the cabinet and hardware choices to the granite slab choices, Patty was there to help. Leo was not only supervising the cabinet, appliance and other installations he was working with the crew and after the cabinets were installed he worked diligently to tweak doors and drawers. Overall, it was once again a pleasure to work with River Oak and we know if we ever have any problems or need to change something they would be there for us."

"Very good experience, all were very professional , friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all questions I had. I met with Sean on 7/25 for estimate to replace our 29 year old furnace and air conditioner. Sean worked up estimate and was able to set me up with installment date the very next week on 7/30. Mike and Jesse did the installation. They came at 7:00 and finished around 2:00. They put all equipment on a square base and replaced the sheet metal that had corroded because of an old humidifier they removed. They left everything clean and neat. I was able to take advantage of $750 in rebates which lowered the final investment to $5794. I highly recommend them."

"Good.  We called Patrick and he responded quick and came over next day and gave us an estimate.  He is very nice and professional.  Estimate was accurate. Fixed price was for labor and parts, wife did not agree and she wanted to take the Angies List discount on labor.  We would probably use Patrick again.  We do not have or forsee any plumbing problems in the near future."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Yorkville, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
