"Russel Williams Home Services is my "go to" window cleaning, gutter cleaning, and Christmas lighting. I've been using them for years and I won't use anyone else. They do a great job and are very reasonably priced (with discounts for repeat customers). Most importantly, they're incredibly responsive with great customer service. I highly recommend their services."

"We loved our Limo ride with Travis driving us around the city seeing Christmas lights. There were six of us and plenty of space to have our treats and drinks. The ride was very comfortable and the inside of the limo was clean and beautiful interior/lights. The tour was 3 hours and took us to some amazing light displays. Our driver, Travis, was very accommodating, informative and stopped to allow photo ops. I would highly recommend this as a Christmas tradition."

"Very satisfied with the quality of work, but time will tell how long the sealcoat formulation holds up. A quick check of a drop of the freshly applied sealcoat in a class of water showed that is as water-soluable as thin latex paint. As for the work, cleaning prep was done with blower and broom. The sealcoat edges are razor-edge neat without any splash on the house or fence. <br /> <br /> ***  Update *** <br /> <br /> The sealcoating did not hold up well through the first winter and wore off most in two tire tracks where the car went up and down the driveway.    Sometimes the lowest bid yields less than the best results."

"I wanted to do an entire home remodel, and I don’t have concept of color and/or flow. Sue was referred to me by a Realtor friend. Sue was one of 3 that I interviewed. Our first meeting was understanding my vision, picking out colors, talking about flow, etc. The next was picking out flooring, tiles, paint, hardware, etc, then we shopped for furniture. Sue developed the vision/template, my contractor brought it to life. I love the end product. I’ve referred to others who are also seeking a change"

"Claimed a $99 deal listed on site, but found out that price was only applicable to a lower amount of window panes than I had. Company was very quick to respond to my request - both via email and calling - and we set up a time for them to come a few days later. Unfortunately, had to reschedule due to weather, but they were again good with communicating with me. For window cleaning, they (2 people) arrived during the time which was agreed upon. 1 of 2 was wearing a mask in the initial walkthrough of the house. 1 person worked on the inside and other did outside. Window inserts were removed to clean inside of house windows. Cleaning took just about an hour and total cost for 18 windows to be cleaned was $178 (including tax). Found a couple of windows throughout the house that I needed to do touch-up cleaning on sides/corners after they had left and also dry off water stains left behind on the window sills."

"Bridget was on time and prepared to clean. she brought her own Green cleaning supplies as I requested and did not need to ask me for anything extra. Bridget was extremely thorough and she put everything back the way i had them. Also, I asked for her help arranging my kitchen and bathroom cupboards and drawers and was very impressed with her organizing abilities and overall performance. I will definitely have Bridget clean and organize for us again. <br />"

"Preston and his crew did a nice job for us. I won't hesitate to hire him again or recommend him to others. Had the deck completed in about 4 weeks following initial contact. <br />"

"Finished deck turned out better then I thought it would. I was pleasantly surprised! Only issues were with the stripping process of my original deck finish where there was over-spraying of the chemicals that were used and not completely washed off with water. Had some window trim and door pedestal accidental paint stripping, but RTD was very professional in responding to the issue and repainted the areas affected with the over-spray at no additional charge. Overall cost of the project was very reasonable. I will definitely use them again!"

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Young-america, MN

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
