"Palmetto Ceramic Coatings (PCC) just completed coating/painting the entire exterior of our home on James Island (June 2020). The house was coated with Rhino Shield (Hardie plank and stucco) and conventional Sherwin Williams Super Deck paint was used on our front and back porches/decks/stairs/railings. In 45 years of home ownership this is the most positive home improvement project we have ever had. Jon Rosa, dealer manager, is an excellent representative of PCC. Like any good salesman he promised a lot and set high expectations. Unlike many/most companies PCC actually delivered on those promises. Jon and the entire painting crew were professional and a pleasure to work with. As promised, once our project was started they were there every day that weather permitted until the project was complete. Every phase from pressure washing to preparation for spraying and painting was done with great care. We are extremely pleased with the results. Perhaps the best review came from our neighbor who told my wife that our house looked beautiful and how perfect and meticulous the painters were with all of the trim and detail work. I highly recommend PCC because I think you will be very pleased with their work. The bonus is your neighbors will be impressed as well!"

"Dan did an excellent job cleaning and preparing our two story cedar siding house and garage for an oil-based stain. The house was way overdue for a paint job so there was a lot of peeling paint and splitting wood that needed to be addressed first. Dan took the time to properly scrape and sand the wood and caulk as necessary prior to staining. Both the house and garage look great. Dan works alone. Dan is a great painter and a really nice trustworthy and reliable painter. He is meticulous, neat, courteous and loves dogs. You won't regret hiring Dan."

"Columbia Electric referred Finishing Touch to me. The electrician accidentally slipped on a joist in the attic and put his knee through the ceiling on a Monday. It was not until the following Wednesday Finishing Touch was able to get a gentleman out to make the repair. Once I was on the schedule, he was right on time (both times). Although he patched it, he did not patch it far enough and a hairline crack still runs in the ceiling (see picture). I also had to request he mud over the whole patch as it left a dip when a straight edge was placed next to it. The one gentleman said that you usually have dips in patches. Frankly, you don't when you know what you are doing. While he was here I arranged with the owner, Russ, to do some sanding and mudding on the walls, which I had already begun (I wanted to save myself some time on the bathroom renovation). I had to request his return because he failed to sand some areas and never mudded others that he had sanded. He did not dispose of the waste from the patch repair, but laid the broken pieces of drywall on the carpeted floor at the top of the steps in a pile (about a buckets worth). Granted, there were some unused parts of drywall sheets, but I found this unprofessional. He used a drop cloth, but after sanding he also failed to vacuum/sweep the dust from sanding and left it for me to clean. Overall, I feel I was an inconvenience for Finishing Touch and they were forced into this job due to their relationship with my electrician, and the effort to get me out of the way greatly impacted the quality of their work. In fact, the second time they were here I was not aware they had left (I was on the back porch). I heard their vehicles start and they were gone."

"Anderson painting did an amazing job. He was punctual and efficient and even finished the job early. He was great with communicating with us and honoring his quote. We needed our drywall repaired and our ceiling painted following a horrendous leak. He was conscious of our budget and helped to blend the paints on the ceiling opposed to charging us to paint the entire downstairs ceiling. He was very honest and trustworthy. Much of the work was done when we were not home so we left a key with Mikel. Our house was treated with respect in our absence, and he cleaned up after himself. I will use him for future projects."

"<p>Brian was courteous and gave me the best estimate out of 4 painters. He did an excellent quality job, and he precisely estimated how many cans of the expensive stain we needed to buy. Brian had to work an additional day to prep the deck, according to the exact directions on the stain can...and he did not request additional money. Brian was very careful to protect our brand new vinyl siding. He cleaned up well from the job. His administrative assistant, Bernadette, was a pleasure to work with.</p> <p>The only reason I marked him down for professionalism is that he is listed on Angie's List as well as his business card as being insured, but he has allowed that insurance to lapse. I requested, therefore, that he add a couple of clauses to the written contract stating that he and his company would take full responsibility and liability for any injury, death, or property damage. He was willing to do so. </p> <p><br /></p> <p>I would definitely call Brian again, but I would want him to reinsure before hiring in the future.</p> <br />"

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Camden, SC

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
