"The short version: a poor paint job and terrible customer service from a company run by a bully. Do not trust this company with your home. Pictures included in my Google review since I can't upload them here. Alvarez Painting (owner Paul, his son, and another employee) spent 2 days in April 2019 painting the ~20 doors in our home, as well as several doorframes and 2 rooms of baseboards. They did a rough job from the start, with thin and missed spots on all of the doors, as well as entire sections of doorframes that were missed completely or missed their second coat of paint. I noticed some of these issues on our final review and spent about an hour with the son getting things touched up; Paul spent that time rushing his son along and yelling at the other employee, as well as hurrying me to stop. I wasn't thrilled about the shade of white that the paint turned out (had been almond, they'd repainted using Extra White from Sherwin Williams but it still looked yellow and Paul said that was the best it would be). I paid them about $1800. After they left, I noticed more thin spots, the missed doorframes, etc and contacted Paul about them fixing these issues. He said they would come out after Memorial Day but completely ignored me after I tried multiple times to get something scheduled. I disputed <$200 of the painting charge with my credit card company to compensate for the work I'd have to put in to fixing the missed & poorly done spots but didn't dispute the whole charge because at the time I felt that would be unfair. In November 2019, I finally found the time to touch up the doors myself. I used the exact same paint type that they had, but wasn't able to use the exact can of paint because they'd left it open in the garage and it dried out. I did the touchups and immediately realized that what I'd just applied was a much whiter color than they'd applied. I had 2 other painting companies out to give me an assessment and estimate to fix - they both said that the paint had been watered down or otherwise improperly applied, and that's why there was a color difference. I contacted Paul again about getting a refund, as I would have to repaint everything they'd done because there were now whiter painted areas on every surface. He called me a liar and lied about how long they spent at my house (it was only 2 days, he said they were there for 5 and came back out). I wound up repainting those doors and trim myself, but did have one of the other painting companies out to repaint our front door the same Extra White color. For the record, their paint job came out as white as expected, with none of the discoloration of Alvarez Painting's handiwork."

"Haim and his crew exceeded expectations, stayed within budget, and got the job finished fast. After a broken water heater flooded half our house, we needed new floors and the walls, which had been “flood cut” two-feet up all around had to be repaired, replastered and repainted. Haim was very helpful, explaining the process and various options. He gave me good advice on why things we could do to make improvements without braking the bank. I also really appreciated how he found a way to fix the problem that had led to the flooding in the first place - devising a way to add a drain pipe where there was no obvious exit. His whole crew was hard working, dependable and great at their jobs. There was one section of drywall that was really difficult to patch as it received a lot of natural light and was right under a bright ceiling light, which tends to expose even the smallest flaw. Haim’s drywall expert worked on it over and over until it wasn’t noticeable at all. All in all, they went above and beyond painting several additional walls and doors for me just to make sure it all came together perfectly. The cost was very reasonable, in line with other quotes I received and in some cases less. I highly recommend GH. Give ‘me a call!"

They refinished and corrected the bad textures that were done by the previous texture guys. They repaired, primed, and painted the the whole interior walls. "We had a short 5 day turn-around for getting the final task of painting the interior of a remodel completed before final inspection. Since we were cutting it close with getting the last room finished we decided to just ask Gold Stars to include the task of resurfacing the ceiling and adding drywall to walls in the laundry room. We thought this might exceed our 5 day schedule but they were able to complete all work within the original 5 day quote. The price for the extra work was more than reasonable. They did a fantastic job of preparing the interior for painting and even fixed multiple areas that had bubbled up from earlier texturing job by another contracting group. The whole Gold Stars team was professional and respectful of the house. They did an excellent job in cleaning up! The property they were painting has been a work in progress since March on a remodel of a 1908 farm house. We have had many different trades working at this property(plumbers, electricians, other painters - exterior & interior) all of which we had to cleanup after and disappointingly we found the quality of work far inferior to this group. Gold Stars is professional and respectful of the property they work on. We wanted to use a particular brand of paint for this project and they provided us guidance in purchasing the right quantity. They were spot on with their estimates. Additionally, we had two rooms where we were leaving the original shiplap but planning to paint it. We had already applied two coats of primer but Agustin advised us the wall color would be best if an additional coat of primer was applied. He applied this additional coat of primer to ensure the project was completed to our satisfaction (without charging us for the labor of applying this extra coat). The pictures I've included are of the rooms with shiplap so you can see how well it looked after being painted. I was so impressed - I plan to use them to do some painting in my own home."
