"Long time from discovering roof damage due to hail to having the roof replaced, but SJR was there for the entire process working with my insurance provider and keeping me updated. Once the approval came in and the weather permitted, the roof was replaced (had the gutters done also) very professionally and very quickly! The job was completed as advertised and as expected. The follow-up inspection was completed in the same professional manner and any concerns/questions I had were addressed and/or answered. Thank you SJR to giving me the piece of mind by having a roof that will last longer than I expect to be around!"

"I can’t tell you how pleased I am with my experience with Premier Roofing - from the initial phone call to inquire about an estimate, to meeting with Ricardo regarding the pricing for a 50 year roof, material to be used, scheduling a day for the install, to the work crew installing the new roof and finally with meeting with a Premier rep to insure the work done was as contracted - even the status calls and follow on calls from Samantha (she was really professional, friendly, and knowledgeable of the work being done - super employee!!!!!) I have to say this project was the best experience I’ve ever had with a home construction/repair company. Everything Ricardo and I discussed and I contracted for was completed on or ahead of schedule and without any problems or issues. The quality of the work is of the highest caliber, the install crew was well prepared for every facet of installation including the often overlooked site cleanup. Nothing was left out - including a very comprehensive sweep of my entire property for screws, nails, sharp metal objects with their “magnetic rakes”. I highly recommend Premier (Roofing) to any homeowner looking for a new roof, at a great price and installed exactly as specified. The entire company is one I feel is truly the best because each employee absolutely cares about and are proud of the high quality of work they do. I give them the highest rating because they earned it!!!!!"

"We are pleased to have had Style Roofing replace a hail-damaged roof and install new gutters on our home. Prior to undertaking the work, our contact person (Nick Perkins) outlined the work to be done and promptly answered all questions and concerns that we had. The work was completed and the clean-up finished in one day, and our one concern regarding a gutter installation was satisfactorily addressed. Style Roofing is an experienced, efficient and highly professional roofing company, which we would recommend to anyone."

"A&M Roofing replaced my roof and skylights. They did a good job installing the roof and they were very cooperative. They displayed good attitude and were easy to work with. The new skylights have some marks on them that were probably caused by their work and I think they can be removed. I asked them to clean the skylights and they came over and cleaned the skylights and did a pretty good job. They didn't use bucket of water to clean, they used Windex spray. I realize they're roofers, not window washers, so it would be best to hire a professional window washer. However, since they install skylights I feel they should be able to improvise on window washing. I would grade them A for roof."

"Recent rains have made it apparent that I have a leak in my roof. Russ Robertson was a great help in advising me on the steps that will need to be taken for the repair. He was easy to talk with and answered all my questions. I look forward to having Timothy's Roofing handle the repairs."

"TL;DR. We had Roofer 911 perform a complete roof replacement, and we couldn't be happier with the cost (even though Insurance covered it), the speed, the help with homeowners, or the quality. Steve, and the workers, were incredible to work with. Details In January we got "hit" with a round of people telling us everyone in the neighborhood needs a new roof because of hail damage. Of course, I didn't really buy it, and brought in our insurance company and a different roofing company. We did, indeed, need a new roof, and our CertainTeed shingles had a design flaw so that everything needed to be replaced. After a few concerning issues with our roofer, including that they wouldn't send an estimate and instead would "work with insurance", we turned to Roofer 911 for a third opinion. I found them after reading Yelp reviews, and chose them based on the amount of repair work they've done, and that they've been in business for over 40 years. I couldn't have made a better decision. As mentioned, the CertainTeed shingles on our roof had a design flaw, and the reviews online were not very good for the newer models, so I wanted some other options, knowing I would have to get it approved by our homeowners covenance committee. After I emailed the company, Steve replied within the hour, during the weekend, and came by the next day to confirm that we had problems. He also dropped off three sample shingles, two GAF which match the color of our current shingles, but have a longer warranty and better reviews, and one which was our current shingle for comparison. I was able to bring these over for the covenance committee to review and approve the new shingles. I also received a detailed digital contract, listing the cost and amount of each part as well as the cost of labor. Roofer 911 was the only company that did this, and when I asked about it from another company I was told they'd work with insurance, so I had no idea what was actually going into our new roof. We scheduled the replacement for about 5 days later (a Saturday). Friday evening we returned home to see the materials placed and ready to install, and they started around 8 Saturday morning. We had a bunch of workers, and they were done within about 12 hours. I'll say, replacing a roof involves a LOT of banging, so we found ways to leave the house. But we felt incredibly safe with the workers, and they were really focused on getting the job done well. The caps over the ridges cover more than the previous caps did, and the roof in general looks excellent. They cleaned up absolutely everything (which is amazing based on how much mess we saw during the process), and you wouldn't even know they had been there. When they finished the work the head worker came over to make sure I was happy with the work and the cleanup. We haven't had a hard rain yet, but so far everything looks more solid than it had before we got the roof. I'll certainly update if we run into problems. Throughout the process Steve has been incredibly responsive and honest. He's made clear that he wants us to be happy, and is genuinely interesting to talk to. I've already referred Steve to my in-laws who had damage during a recent wind storm I really can't recommend the company enough if you're looking to get your roof replaced."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Chantilly, VA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
