"We have had a disastrous and extremely frustrating experience with PermaSeal. PermaSeal installed a drain tile system at our house. Months later we realized that they broke a pipe that they installed which resulted in the drain tile system pouring water into our ejector pit and flooding our septic system. There was a huge hole in the pipe, and it was grossly negligent that it was installed this way. This problem flooded our back yard with sewage and caused several thousand dollars worth of damage/costs. When we realized what was happening, they sent out a tech who found the broken pipe and completed the repair.  However, when we asked that they reimburse us for the costs we have had to incur or give us a partial refund to cover them they have completely dropped the ball.  We have called the manager we were told was handling the situation multiple times only to hear that he’s waiting to hear from another manager who’s handling the case. They won’t give us any contact info for that manager and say that they will reach out. It has been a month since we notified them of the problem, and all they can tell us is that “they’ve passed our case on and we’ll hear from someone.”  When you are a potential customer, their communication is excellent and timely. However, once they have your money, it seems they couldn’t care less about if the job was done right or addressing problems. We paid PermaSeal an enormous amount of money for the drain tile system, and thousands more for damage/costs that they caused. We shouldn’t have to wait weeks for a phone call."

"Good work in general; our basement no longer sees water for over 3 years now, which is the most important thing. But there were some real issues: The biggest issue is that USW did not adhere to local electrical codes, and did not arrange for a final inspection of the project. So we didn't find out that it wasn't to code until years later, and now it's a big hassle and minor cost to fix and get the permits. Ask your local gov yourself what you need to do for permits and inspections; don't rely on USW! USW said they would seal any foundation cracks found along the way; they didn't do this until I bugged the warranty dept about it (but they did do it eventually). USW sent someone out for the "annual checkup"... over 2 years after the install. It's a good thing they (eventually) did, because they discovered the backup battery wasn't charging. Now I know to check this stuff better myself. Prices also vary wildly and are kind of negotiable (I'd give more detail but I'm out of space)"

I've also hired them in the past to rebuild our parapet and replace other old windows and the work is always great. They're easy to coordinate schedules with and the quality of work is top notch. "Starting with the estimate (which was comparable to the other estimates I got), Gibran spent more time discussing exactly what I wanted and needed: the old walk was narrow, did I want it widened; squared off or rounded out where it met the garage slab; raising the back walk slightly to eliminate the extra, shallow step at each end; and most usefully, how to work around the 100 year old catalpa, that had lifted and broken the old walk, between it and the house. We ended up adding a curve to the walk, just by the tree, giving it extra space without disturbing the existing tulip bed on the other side of the walk along the house. He and his crew worked quickly and neatly, and did a very nice job. The new walks meet the city sidewalk and garage slab evenly, the curves are smooth, the tree has room, the tulip bed and ivy along the house weren’t disturbed, and now it’s much less of a pain to shovel snow than it used to be! As a bonus, landscaping was not part of the contract, but Gibran found a source of black dirt for us, and when there was a delay (while waiting for the city inspector) after the forms were in place, he and his crew spread the dirt needed to regrade the yard for us, rather than just sit around. I’m very pleased with the work they did for us, enjoyed working with Gibran and his crew, and would definitely recommend 5 Star Concrete & Construction."

"They were a great company to work with... friendly, courteous, and accommodating. I had a front porch leaning away from the house (from settling), and a walkway leaning toward the house. They patiently answered all my questions, and did a professional job. The new porch and walkway look great and I'm very happy with the results. They told me to apply water to the new cement for a week to prevent cracks. I had never heard of this before, so I'm glad they mentioned it. My only regret (which was my fault, not theirs) is that I didn't put tarps over my groundcover and part of the lawn to avoid having to pick out small pieces of cement. I don't think any contractor does this, so again my fault, but just something to consider for anyone having work done and is picky like me."
