"Jeff Andis and his crew did a fantastic job of removing the old roofing material and replaced it with new. They were all very courteous and considerate. Their work was done in a very professional efficient manner, taking care of details. They left my home with a new roof and a very clean yard. I would not hesitate to hire Jeff Andis Roofing or to recommend him to do your home."

"Ellis was very good to work with from quoting through project finish. He was knowledgeable about key roofing details and provided valuable explanations and advice. Originally, I had him quote only the roof and skylight and then later added the gutters. The addition was handled so smoothly it was like I had asked for them in the first place. I understood at the beginning of the project the skylight install would be the rough in with no sheetrock/drywall work included and accepted it that way. At the time, I didn't realize this meant they would not cut the existing sheetrock in the ceiling to expose the skylight to the room below and that was the only minor disappointment that was quickly resolved with a pruning saw on a pole. There was a misunderstanding between the crew and myself on the position of the skylight (my fault) and we discovered it halfway into the install. The crew stopped and took the time to let me better explain and then promptly and courteously made the correction. Very good experience in every aspect."

"Brad Anderson had done a ton of replacement roofs in our area after a hail storm. We had been working with our insurance adjuster and called Brad to help us make sure we got everything we needed to have an excellent new roof. The adjuster was busy and missed a ton of things that Brad immediately caught, missed vents and a turret feature that took extra work to hand cut the tiles to go around the turret. Item after item were approved as the insurance payments came in. We had also had a problem in heavy rain where it would overwhelm the gutters in one area. Brad identified that the issue was also the turret with water causing the overflow. Since we were getting new gutters as well, he had the company that did the gutters fix that issue. Brad added a roof vent that will help us stay cool in our hot summers. Brad was patient, understanding, answered our many questions, advised us on the best color for our house and made sure everything was cleaned up and finished complete. I think you would be as happy as we were!"

"After a great night of Mexican food and margaritas at Funky Baja, we pulled up to our house right as a massive hail storm hit our neighborhood. Windows broke, cars were damaged and yes, our roof was totaled. Once the weather moved out and the sun came up the next day Brent Bolte with Bold Roofing was at our home, up on the roof and calming our nerves. He was thorough in his evaluation, he worked with us and our insurance agency to ensure we were getting the coverage we needed, he was transparent in his communication, and most importantly Brent showed up on time, every time we were scheduled to meet. Brent even took the time to drive around our neighborhood with my wife to look at different shingle color options in an effort to ensure we were happy with the color we chose. Bold Roofing and Brent are exactly who you need to call. Mathew & Lisa Long"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Crandall, TX

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
