"Kevan & Drew at Drain Designs were fantastic! First let me say it was refreshing too actually, have someone respond and follow up to a call. I had called several companies/persons but none either responded back or showed up for their appointment. So, I was a pleasantly surprised when Kevan responded to my voicemail and showed up for the scheduled appointment. Water was leaking into my back room from underneath the deck and creating issues. Kevan came out and assessed the problem and devised a solution. Kevan & Drew showed up as assured. The process was explained every step of the way, so I had a very clear understanding of what was being done and why. Both Kevan & Drew were professional, and their work is quality work. I would definitely work with Drain Designs again and would have no issues recommending them to others. You won't be disappointed!"

"I'll start by saying that Jofmar (Jose and team) delivered well beyond my expectations. I reached out to Jofmar with a few large hardscape projects after long effort to try and find someone that was professional, on time and and cared to do the work. Overall my experience was very pleasant. Victoria graciously helped me with estimates, explained the process well to understand what is involved for each project and then Jose and his team delivered on the product. The first of two projects just finished up -I had stacked stone garden walls built around all my mulched beds. The attention to detail was a delight to see and I can't wait to finally refresh my garden beds. I want to call out that Jose and team really love the work that they do and it shows. They work hard and are easy to talk to throughout projects. They are agile and will work with you if there is a change in scope. I still have a second project waiting on materials and can't wait to see how well they do there as well. I'll be using Jofmar for any work I need in the future and if I could put them on retainer, I would. Attached are some shots of the work they did for my garden walls."

"Our yard improvement was a total disappointment. The VP of the company came out to review the job in person. We were looking to add sprinklers to our backyard and aerate and seed our lawn. The review of the job was well presented with a good plan. The job was scheduled to be complete in 1 1/2 days. All seemed good. When the installation crew arrived, they had a completely different plan. They pretty much did whatever was easiest for them. In doing so, they damaged so many areas of the existing system that it was no longer operational. They damaged our septic system and tried to cover it up. The septic area was not marked but the original plan stayed away from that system. All work was done in sloppy manner. Clean up almost non-existent. The seeding was terrible. I have great big bare spots. When they completed the job 30 days later. I asked them to test the system and of course it didn’t even work. They had to rerun wire they had cut. This job was a disaster. Management didn’t care."

"Mr. Dodson was very responsive to all inquiries and questions concerning metal roofing. The metal roofing arrived sooner than expected and his construction crew put the roof on, turn key, in one morning. The crew was very professional and thorough during installation and clean up."

"We had used Panoramic Landscapes to do some major landscaping and they did a fantastic job. It was a no-brainer to contact Blake to have a stone wall built around a bed in front of my house. Blake's stone mason did a great job and the wall exceeds our expectations. The mason was very meticulous in his work and did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. If you need quality work done, call Blake. I would also like to mention that we just recently had Blake's crew re-mulch the landscaping they did a couple of years ago. While this might seem like a pretty straightforward job, they really did an excellent job and the whole bed looks brand new. I was very impressed and they did such a good cleanup job you couldn't even tell they had been there. Panoramic is my go-to landscaping company!"

"Junk King let us down and, at the last minute, refused to take 1/3 of our "junk" which was a big pile of bricks. I immediately called Dave Post and he agreed to take them off our hands at his earliest opportunity. He showed up on the day agreed, earlier than his normal advertised working hours, and moved the pile in a matter of minutes at a great price. Also my father in law will sometimes hire him for landscape maintenance (I think landscaping is his core business) so he comes "double recommended.""

"We hired this firm to install an extensive landscape plan for our home. The owner met with us, seemed very knowledgeable and highlighted her extensive professional credentials. Her pricing was high relative to others we considered but we liked what she described as her approach (no subcontracting, her extensive knowledge and relationship with nurseries, her knowledge of native NC plants, that she was on-site at all times, etc). She walked through details of our plan and provided a comprehensive proposal (>$50,000). We determined to hire this firm and take the project in phases. What the owner portrays she will do and what she actually does are quite different. After we committed and provided an initial deposit it was weeks longer than she indicated before her crew started work. We were over billed for labor and materials on each invoice received during the project. When we pointed these out to the owner she apologized for her error(s) ("I was exhausted and wasn't paying attention."). Despite her guarantees on her work, within weeks of the initial project being completed we pointed out a small number of plants that were not as healthy-looking as the dozens of others she installed and we were repeatedly assured over the next several months that they would be fine despite my providing pictures that showed they were getting progressively worse. She indicated in numerous email communications that the plants would be replaced if they did not "make it". This fall it was clear they had not survived and when pressed on replacement she declined. We will not be continuing with this firm for the additional phases of our project and we would not recommend this company to others."

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Durham, NC

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
