"Shelton Painting, Inc. subcontracted our exterior house painting job to Alexis Painting, LLC. Items of note for Shelton/Alexis: - Alexis Painting parked in our driveway, blocking us from getting into our garage, and did not move when we came home. - Alexis asked once for water, which we were happy to provide. A few hours later they knocked on our door and asked for more water when two other painters showed up. - Even though the Shelton Painting quote stated, “no exterior painting should be done immediately after a rain, during foggy weather, or when rain is predicted” Alexis painted our house up to the point it started to rain (rain was in the forecast for the whole day). The paint was not dry when the rain started. - The masking Alexis used at the base of our house blew up during the rain shower and stuck to the wet paint (there was nothing weighing down the plastic masking). We, as homeowners, had to go out and peel the masking off of the house and weigh it down. The masking left a texture in the paint. Some paint was also stuck to the masking. When Shelton was called about this issue, Todd was angry/defensive and stated “it all can be fixed.” They did “fix” it, but there is still a slight texture in the paint. - The painters left empty pop cans, bottle caps, and we found a razor knife blade in the lawn when they left for the day. Our child could easily have run though the grass and gotten cut. - Came home one day (after work) to find two painters sleeping under our tree. When we woke them up and asked what was happening they stated they were waiting on material. As they did not seem to have a vehicle at our home, I assume they were dropped off and left to work. I don’t want to think about where they went to the bathroom during the day. They lied back down after talking to us and appeared to go back to sleep. - Alexis painted our front door shut (to the weather stripping). The painters had to use a razor knife to separate the door from the weather stripping. A paint ridge was left on the door where the weatherstripping meets the door. Our overall impression is Shelton Painting does not manage their subcontractors. Shelton’s subcontractor (Alexis Painting) lacks professionalism. However, the overall painting Alexis performed seemed fine. Shelton Painting does not seem to know what is going on with their subs, and at least in our case, they were more about telling you why you are wrong then trying to make it right. For us, there was too much drama in working with Shelton Painting and their sub, Alexis Painting."

Quality work, minimal disruption. We realize that having your space overtaken by a paint crew isn’t exactly the ideal situation. That's why we've created a smart painting process that eliminates the hassle and mess you usually get with a painting project. Our personalized, detailed proposals clearly outline our services rendered and the total cost of the job. Our painters then work from the proposals, ensuring every project is completed on time and on budget. We deliver both speed and quality so you don’t have to shift your whole life around. And you won’t even smell paint fumes after we’re gone—we also use zero VOC paint, which is better for you and the environment.
"We unfortunately didn’t have a good experience with Wow. We selected a matte sheen for our interior and they used velvet, didn’t repair nail pops, & used a long nap roller, leaving an orange peel texture on our previously smooth walls. We had some areas needing sanding which were not properly done. To be fair, when we raised concerns, they returned promptly & did a nice job fixing the exterior. They applied 1 coat of matte to the interior, again using long rather than short nap roller we requested. 1 coat didn’t fully cover the shine and orange peel remained. My husband preferred to attempt a fix ourselves rather than having them return again, so we told them it was better. We told them we applied a 2nd matte coat with a short nap roller to further reduce shine and smooth the walls. They did not acknowledge this or offer any rectification. We paid $2400 for our interior, applied 2nd coat ourselves, and are stuck either living with orange peel or paying another company to fix it."

"We wanted to have our house stained and our deck and front porch cleaned and stained. Got 4 bids,3 of which we found on Angie's list. Jerry seemed very knowledgeable and fairly priced, so we went with him. It was a wet spring so we had to wait a bit, but eventually got the job done. Overall, his crew did an okay job on the house part of it. This is why I'm leaving the bad review. We have a 50' deck and a 20' front porch. Both of which, last summer I installed about 100' feet of cable railing, consisting of about 45 black painted stainless steel posts along with the cable that is strung through to make the railing. Along the top of that is 2x6 lumber that was to be stained, along with the surface of the decks. Not only did anyone not think about masking off the cable and posts, but the individual they had do the staining on this, got stain all over not only all the post, but the cables as well. When I saw this and brought it to the attention of the foreperson, nobody seemed to care enough to not only start to clean it off, but even care that much. It was only after texts, and phone calls to Jerry, did anyone try to do anything. Well, they needed an industrial type of aerosol paint remover to clean it. The areas where they could get it off, the removal product damaged the finish, and they still didn't even get it all off. At the end of the day, the only important thing for Jerry, was to get his check. I couldn't inspect the deck that night (because the surface was wet) so I didn't give his crew the rest of the money. So Jerry made sure to have his person stop by at 8:00am the next morning to make sure he got his money. After I slept on this for a few days, I called Jerry with my concerns about the rail. He was supposed to stop by that Friday, as he was going to be in the area, but he was a no show. Haven't heard from him since. If you hire him, I'd advise you sit and watch the type of job his people are doing. I assumed this was a professional outfit, and learned my lesson."
