"Barbara installed a new kitchen faucet and strainer plus had to make some changes under the sink with pipes/connections. (Just had new sink and countertops installed) We have used Barnagat Plumbing several times. She listens when you tell her the problem and then offers options - some times only an adjustment is needed and not a total replacement. We are 100% satisfied with her work and appreciate her honesty when it comes to providing options for fixing a plumbing problem."

"As always, it went very well. A message left with the home office was answered quickly and an appointment made to review various options. The sink was put on order and the job was completed in less than 1 week. Tim was polite, professional, precise with both the measurements and the installation of the new sink and willingly explained each step in the process. Mako has been my go-to plumbing company for many years. I have always been happy with both their professionalism and quality of work. I have referred several friends all of whom have been equally pleased with their work and would not hesitate to recommend to others."

Customers say: Super punctual

"My experience with Anthony and Laaja Multi Service Pipping was excellent. As a new homeowner, and having inherited an older family home with lots of home-made touchups, any sort of plumbing, electrical or "hard" issue with the house terrifies me. You can imagine the state of panic I descended into when my kitchen sink started leaking on New Years Day while my house was filled with guests. Fortunately, Anthony came to the rescue. Not only was he patient enough to coordinate with both myself and my tenants in order to schedule the earliest date and time possible, he was dedicated to providing honest service and even came back TWICE to run tests between floors before diagnosing the problem and charging me (I had a second plumbing issue that spanned multiple floors). Additionally, he broke down his work and explained his charges and his decisions which made me feel very comfortable. Overall, an A++ experience. Quality people and services can be very hard to find, but I am happy to say that I have found a local, skilled, honorable professional in Anthony and Laaja Mutli Service Pipping."

"Niko Spirollari and Dori did an excellent job in replacing three (3) radiator valves. One of the valves required a pipe to be replaced. They contacted me immediately upon my request for a quote and they were able to come the very next day to do the job. They gave me a very reasonable estimate for this job and only charged me the cost of an extra valve for the labor and parts to replace a damaged pipe. The entire job took about 2 hours. They placed down work blankets to protect the carpet and they vacuumed the work areas and removed the old valves upon completing the job. They were very informative, efficient and professional. I was very pleased with the work and cost of this project. I have hired them before to replace my hot water tank and install a kitchen faucet and I would definitely hire them for future plumbing projects."

"They came out on a weekend and we're our saving grace during one of the most frustrating experiences we've had in this house. We couldn't use any plumbing without flooding the basement with sewage, it was early stay at home days, and we felt like we would go mad. They showed up and gave us an price for replacing the broken pipe, and set in to work. They worked for the entire weekend essentially, staying extremely late at night and showing up early the next morning, and at one point driving far out at night to get supplies since their usual local place was closed (again, quarantine time) . The reason it took so long was because after opening up the floor to get to the end of the pipe to replace it they found more damaged pipes, and replaced those as well. By the end of it they had spent the entire weekend on a job they expected to only last an afternoon, had charged us not nearly enough for the amount of work they did, and fixed a leaking bidet we had for free for good measure. They also advised us to do camera scan to look for any other problems, which they couldn't do until the water drained out, and even did an initial mop of the basement (which, remember, sewage flooding). I'm honestly half convinced these people are magic helpful brownies or something, it's unreal how helpful they were! Somehow our drier which has not succeeded in drying clothes for over a year has started working in a single cycle since they left, despite the fact they didn't even do anything with it, and in fact specifically said they don't do driers and offered to recommend someone else when we mentioned it. Suffice to say, I cannot recommend them highly enough"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Elmhurst, NY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
