"I hired Superior Plumbing and Drains to install a gas water heater in my home. They provided a 10 year full warranty and cleaned up after they finished the job. Austin and Zach had great customer service and were extremely professional. I will hire them for all my future plumbing needs and I would recommend them to anyone who needs plumbing work done in their home!"

"Our a/c broke and I put a request for quotes on Angies List. Tara from Ace called me within 5 minutes. She sent out Daniel and he was so thorough. Another company came and said it was a leak. Daniel didn’t find any leaks and he thoroughly looked. He had the air up and running in 3 hours. I highly recommend this company."

"Everything went well. Spoke with Gabriel on May 6th. He had Mike come out on May 7th after and emergency plumbing job. Mike gave me the estimate and told me what could be done but he would have to come back either later that day or the next day because he didn't have what he needed at the time. Mike called me back the same day and said that he couldn't make it back and would it be ok for him to come the next morning. I said sure, just call me after 10 am. Gabriel kept me updated with when and who was coming to the house because Lucas came the next day. He finished the job within 2 hours. The guys were very professional and courteous. I would hire them again if needed. Awesome job!!"

"When I first called I spoke to Sheila who was very personable and professional. I was told they would come in the afternoon and was called during the morning to say they could come earlier if I wanted them to. Both men were very polite and professional. I needed the entire plumbing under my kitchen sink reset. I had purchased new countertops and sinks and faucet. Everything needed to be put back together. They did the work in half the time I thought it would take.they even had to add parts that connect the sink and disposal to the PVC pipes. They also cleared out a nearly totally blocked bathtub drain. The price was much less than I expected, I will definitely use them again. <br />"

"I was the plumber's apprentice - Dr. Plumber went upstairs to the guest bath directly over the main floor bath. He ran cold water - no drip - ran hot water, no drip. Ran the shower - drip, drip, drip - he took me upstairs and showed me the valve that was leaking. He replace the valve - re-caulked - and left the place clean."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Hickory, NC

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
