"We waited a long time to update our front and side yard. We needed extensive rock sidewalk and edging plus landscaping work done. We had a design prior to the start of work and they were very helpful with suggestions as the project progressed to changes/improvements to the design. They showed up when they said they would, they didn't have to borrow any equipment from us which is a big deal to us; you would/will be surprised how many contractors show up and ask to borrow something. They completed the work on time, responded anytime we called. Our project was in the $45,000+ price range. We have received many compliments from neighbors and people walking by on the final project. We've had people stop to take photos for their future landscape projects. We would and will use them again and highly recommend them."

"Carlos and his team cleaned up some of our tree limbs so we could plant and grow grass in our yard. We did not want to sacrifice the beauty of our shade trees but we needed a bit more sunlight to grow grass. They did a great job cleaning up and trimming the trees, we also decided to let them lay the grass and we are pleased with the result."

Customers say: Quality work

"It went very well, each step of the work was on scheduled and completed on time and to our satisfaction.  We liked it so well that we had them back to do  a limited update to our front landscape.  We continue to enjoy the layout and design 6 years later.  We've received many compliments on the work of Walkabout Landscape.  I recommended them to a member of my family who also had their front landscape done by Walkabout and it's worked out well too, so that's 3 separate jobs within my family.  I recommend them. <br />"

FAQs for outdoor lighting plan and installation projects in Irving, TX

Permit requirements for outdoor lighting vary depending on your location and project scope. Simple fixture replacements don't require permits, but projects involving new electrical circuits, extensive trenching, or significant system expansions often do. Local building departments establish these requirements, and many professional electricians handle permit applications as part of their service package.

The timeline for outdoor lighting installation varies based on project complexity. Basic systems might require only one to two days for complete installation, while extensive lighting networks with numerous fixtures and complex wiring needs could extend to a week or longer. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and soil characteristics can all influence how quickly professionals can complete your installation.

Outdoor lighting offers both practical and aesthetic benefits that many homeowners find valuable. Beyond enhancing nighttime visibility and security, well-designed lighting can highlight architectural features and extend outdoor living hours. While installation represents a significant investment, quality lighting may potentially increase property appeal and could contribute to overall home value.

Some outdoor lighting projects are suitable for homeowner installation, particularly simple solar fixtures or low-voltage systems that plug into existing outlets. However, projects requiring new electrical connections, permanent wiring, or integration with home electrical systems demand professional expertise. Electrical work carries inherent safety risks, and improper installation could create fire hazards or code violations.

The operating cost for outdoor lighting depends primarily on your fixture types, bulb selection, and usage patterns. Energy-efficient LED fixtures consume significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or halogen alternatives. Controlling your lighting with timers, photocells, or motion sensors can further reduce energy usage by ensuring lights operate only when needed or beneficial.
