We hired this exceptional shop to replace all the old knob and tube wiring (along with switching out a number of light fixtures and installing several ceiling fans) in our 120-year-old Victorian home – a challenging job that a couple of other electricians didn’t feel confident undertaking. Owner Jack McCurdy personally came to size up the job and give us a detailed estimate, and his professionalism, courtesy and extensive knowledge sold us. What was originally thought to be a two-week job was finished in six working days as foreman Joe Costain efficiently deployed his crew and brought in a second crew on a few days to expedite the work. Joe was great at communicating what kind of activity we could expect day-to-day, especially as both my wife and I are working from home fulltime during the COVID pandemic. He and the crew checked in frequently on our preferences, minimized the number of holes in the ceilings and walls (including avoiding harming our wallpaper in a couple of rooms altogether), and cleaned up well at the end of every day. Jack’s estimate was competitive and the final accounting accurately included the additions and subtractions we agreed to during the job. We feel so much better that we’ve finally eliminated the risky knob and tube wiring and updated the entire house’s electrical system. He arrived promptly in the early morning, did throughout examination and concluded that was not the problem from our interior but from Eversource, the power supplier. He called Eversource using his contractor direct line requesting for the repair. He showed and explained to Eversource crew the issue and his diagnosis until they agreed that was their equipment problem and would have a fix. "We were very concerned that because the house was older (built in 1920) Giombetti would be forced to knock large holes in the walls in order to complete the wiring, which can be a problem both in repairing the holes, but also in all the dust that would be created from the old horsehair walls.  After the first few days of work, we expected to find large gashes in every room in the house, and were pleasantly surprised to find only small holes, often behind radiators and other areas that were not easily visible.    They were clearly VERY careful to do as minimal amount of damage as possible.  They also had electricians on the job who were obviously familiar with older homes and new all the tricks to get around wiring challenges.  We had a painter walk through for an estimate about half way through the job, and even he commented: "Boy, I've seen some butchers do this kind of work - they are doing a really great job!"  <br /> Throughout the project our project manager Steve kept us well informed and promptly alerted us to any roadblocks they encountered.  I never had a chance to feel any anxiety or worry about how the project was progressing.  And they even came in under estimate.  When we are ready to do some expansions on our home, we will not use any other electrician except Giombetti."
