"Sam Nichols and his team painted our home as one of their first jobs of the summer. It was a bit of a training excercise, but they corrected anything we asked them to correct and several things we didn't see. It was obvious that doing a good job was a priority. We received positive reviews from multiple realtors on their finished job. Sam was polite, communicative, and was able to meet us where we needed to be on the price. It was a great experience overall."

"I looked them up on the internet and they had high ratings. I'm really glad I hired them. They came out as agreed upon to do an estimate and were very thorough. Some painters I called never did come out to see the job, just gave an estimate over the phone or e-mail based on square footage. In my college days I worked as a house painter for more than one company, and have always done my own interior painting. With building a new home, I knew I wanted it done professionally. I was really impressed with the level of detail and man hours devoted to prep work. All new, primed, solid core doors and trim moldings were thoroughly sanded prior to priming again and then 2 coats of sprayed finish paint. They were very careful about accidents, we didn't have any, and made sure they left the job picked up and tidy every day. Payment draws were requested in a professional manner and the final cost did not exceed the proposal estimate by a penny. In new construction, drywall "nail pops" can show up weeks later after painting and did in a couple of ceilings. We painted our great room in a color that, once we saw it, we hated! All repairs, re-rolled ceilings and even our "boo-boo" color mistake was taken care of with only an extra charge for paint. We are extremely pleased with the final result, and I am picky about paint. I couldn't recommend them more highly. <br />"

"The preparation of the surfaces was very thorough; the house was power washed and Ned then went on to scrape every bit of peeling paint etc. caulking areas where necessary, replacing boards where necessary (he had an excellent trim person to help with the board replacement) and then priming and painting.  Not one surface was overlooked. <br /> <br /> Over the years I have hired lots of people; I find that the most effective people are the ones who take ownership of their work and love what they do.  Ned personifies these attributes.  He does not take shortcuts and takes tremendous pride in his work. <br /> <br /> I would not only recommend him to anyone requiring external painting, I would hire him again.  In fact I plan to do so in the winter months and get the interior of the house painted.  I am yet to meet another home service provider with Ned's work ethic and integrity."

"Gary was amazing from day one.  Gary is a very pleasant person to talk with and was very attentive to our what we wanted.   Gary first came to the house to take measurements and provide me a quote.  Gary was able to provide a not to exceed cost in which I was comfortable with.  Gary started on the project immediately.  I basically showed him a picture and asked if he could make it look exactly the same way.  He was able to replicate it exactly the way I wanted.  He was able to make progress immediately.  He would wait for me to get home almost everyday from work to discuss and share ideas and show me alternatives if any.  We really enjoyed having Gary at the house.  He became litterally became a friend and someone I felt I have known for a long time.  You will quickly realize he values his family.  There were many days where we would just chat about current events or anything in general.  I really appreciated that Gary was down to earth.   <br /> The quality of Gary's work was impressive.  He was so detailed and was able to overcome few issues that was driven by the house structure itself.  He never tried to cut corners but made sure everything looked the best.  I wish I could download picture of the finished product.  The amount of detail is unbelievable.  Both sides have shelves with under cabinets.  On one side he left a custom spot for the 65" TV I purchased. The TV fits exactly in the spot.  The crown wraps around the entire room as well across the new shelves.  The new fireplace mantle looks amazing.  His work looks like what you would see on TV or in the magazines.  We were almost sad when Gary was finished.  It was nice coming home and chatting with Gary.   <br /> We have lived in this house for 3 years and we never used the living room.  Once he completed this project it feels more like home. We spend a lot of time more time as a family in this room.  I plan to hire GCC contracting for all of our future projects. <br />"

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Mancelona, MI

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
