"Corey is a great guy to do business with. This is the THIRD project I've done around this 200 year old house with him. His quotes are very detailed with line item pricing. You want option A, that's this price. Go with option B and it's this price. I don't see how it could be done better. I got exactly what I was expecting and didn't pay a penny over what was quoted. I think his prices are fair and reflect the quality of work that his crew does. <br /> Corey is focused on customer satisfaction and on doing the job properly. During the course of the job, one of the materials that he'd originally planned to use (and quoted to me) seemed substandard so Corey went with a more expensive, superior product and didn't change his price at all.  <br /> They do what they say they're going to do. They show up when they say they're going to show up and they and work like crazy. Everything was done within the timelines expected. All the guys on the crew are professionals. <br /> When this project is done (and I've got some money saved up again) I'll be contacting Corey for my FOURTH project around the old place. <br /> In case you're curious - project one was a scrape and repaint of all exterior trim (it's a stone house). Project two was a massive dig out of the dirt basement, pouring a concrete floor with radiant floor heating, repointing the interior stone walls, renovating the structural support of the first floor, and some electrical rerouting so that I could finish up a bedroom in the formerly dungeon-like basement. Project four is going to be the addition of a screened porch off the kitchen whose roof will also serve as a deck for the master bedroom. <br />"

The crew was terrific, and when there was inclimate weather, they immediately called us to tell us they would be here the next day. If we had a question, we received a prompt phone call. "I thought I would need a whole new garage floor (it's the original floor from the 1950's).  However, the contractor noted that cracks ran in two  parallel lines about two feet from the walls and thought it would be possible to just replace those areas.  He was cautious and asked a lot of questions to try to get to the source of the cracks. The garage is a "drive through" with garage doors at front and back.  The ground slopes from the rear and water gets into the garage, even with the back door down.  The contractor suggested putting a small speed bump at the back door to direct water away from the garage.  I also asked his advice about repairing cracks in my patio but he said that anything he did would not improve the appearance and might actually make it worse.  I was impressed with his caution and his creativity in solving my problems.  A pane in a side window broke from the vibration of the jackhammers but they replaced it at no cost.  The work was completed in one day and it looks great! <br />"

"We were interested in buying a home and wanted to do some additional mold testing. We had a bad experience with another company and decided to request additional testing and remediation with MSI. They found the source and remediated it completely and quickly. I know MSI also went above and beyond to get the lab results quickly so that we would be able to move forward with our closing process. Overall, I really felt like I learned a lot about mold growth, treatment, and prevention and would highly recommend MSI. They're the company that schools and real estate agents call for their personal home to be tested and remediated -- and there's a reason why."

They identified two areas of trouble; my patio slab connected to the back of my basement and two vertical cracks 10 feet high.  They poured concrete and replaced the slab including a bell drain for drainage which came out very nice. Even built a stair that leads to the sliding glass patio.  They repaired the vertical crack by digging down to the bottom of my wall (excavated) and they used this waterproof gel, then filled the space back with dirt. It looks very nice. The waterproofing and concrete work came with a warranty which gave me comfort. They also sprayed the basement with a mold remediation product and did an OZONE treatment to purify the air. "Since moving into our home 3 years ago, finishing our basement has been high on our list of things to do. It was important for us to find someone knowledgeable, trustworthy, diligent, and respectful to us and our home. Joe is that and more. We reviewed many different contractors here on Angie’s List and met several in person. But once we met Joe Gray, we knew he was the right (and only) person for the job. I could still hear Joe say "You're the designer; I'm the installer" over and over again... Since we were new to designing basement layouts, we hired another company, as Joe insisted that this is done ahead of time. Once we had the design in our hands, the job began. From start to finish, he completed the job in 2.5 months. During our estimate, he told us it would take about 2 months, but considering the winter holidays and 1 or 2 snow days, that timeline was not bad at all. We ended up with exactly what we wanted: A beautiful, finished basement with a main area, full bath, bedroom, storage area. He is an expert framer and a perfectionist when it comes to painting. Recessed lighting was used throughout the main area and hallway. He also installed our light fixtures in the hallway and bathroom. He did a wonderful job installing our ceramic tile and laminate. He used subcontractors for the carpet (1 man), drywall (3 men) and egress window (1 man). What sets Joe apart from the other contractors, is his warm and sincere personality. He is very organized, and keeps everything amazingly neat. He didn't even seem to mind my weekly (sometimes daily) check-up calls. He tried his best to keep us under budget, but there were those unavoidable surprises that no one could foresee. The only area of improvement that I see is if Joe provided a written timeline of the project, as this would have helped us get our supplies in a more timely manner. Throughout the project, Joe respected our home and we truly appreciate all of the great work he did for us. We will definitely refer him to everyone we know and we look forward to calling him for more work in the future. A job VERY well done!"

"Everything went great! When I called to schedule a quote they came out quickly and gave me a quote that was easy to understand. Scheduling was easy and the communication was excellent when the weather didn't cooperate and things had to get pushed back a day. When it came to doing the job they were on-time, polite, kept me apprised of how things were going, and paid attention to detail.
