"I hired an architect and an structural engineer (a city requirement for new construction in Austin) to design the structure and then began shopping the produced plans around. Acting as my own GC, I fully expected to have to hire different subcontractors for demolition, foundation, framing and cornice, painting, electrical, and roofing. I reached out to Jon Wehr, owner of Rawskos Renovations, and was pleasantly surprised that with the exception of electrical, he was willing to bid on the project as a whole with me as the GC. Rawskos prices are fair, about mid way between a large-scale commercial contractor and a guy you found on Craigslist or in the Home Depot parking lot. As with any construction project, you sort of expect a certain amount of flakiness from your subcontractors, miscommunications, no shows, inflated hours or extras charges, but not with Rawskos. The crew were professional and courteous, prompt, thorough, and gave plenty of advanced notice as to scheduling. In fact, we faced battles with the local power company, the city inspectors, and my own architect and engineer, all of which caused unforeseen delays. If not for the flexibility and willingness of the crew to quickly shift gears and do some unaffected part of the job while we waited for clearance, approvals, passed inspections, or missing structural validation reports, this job would have failed dramatically. Jon's estimate for completion was about two months for this project and it finished in just about three months. However, if you subtract out the two week delay caused by discrepancies with power company spotter's approved clearance, 5 days delay caused by the city incorrectly filing our application as a renovation instead of new construction, ten days it took to get a Foundation and Framing Validation report from my engineer that should have taken 30 minutes to write, not to mention a 2 week delay in materials caused by Hurricane Harvey, you can see that Rawskos stayed on task and kept busy, without ever having to put the job on hold or take time off (except during the three days of the actual hurricane). I also wanted to mention that the team constantly made recommendations that enhanced the final outcome or addressed design shortcomings throughout the project. As a beginner GC, I needed a little coaching and they were more than willing to accommodate to ensure they had the materials and design decisions they needed in advance, which kept the project rolling pretty much at full steam."

They do exceptional work and their entire team is very easy to work with and very professional. </p> <p>The details: We spent a lot of time trying to analyze whether to put money into our existing home or sell it and start fresh and buy a newer home. We finally decided to remodel our home. We received about 4 or 5 quotes from various siding companies. They all had their stories to tell about what they could do for us and what it would cost us. We decided to go with Mark Belto and Alamo Exteriors. Mark explained in great detail the process by which they would install the new windows, siding, and our new screened-in patio. He wasn?t the least expensive, but he wasn?t the most either. Mark was always very polite, informative, and always accessible. He even gave us his cell number and would stay in touch with us, even over holiday weekends. He came by the house regularly to check on the progress and would call us to keep us informed of the progress. He has a keen eye for detail and always made sure our requests were dealt with, and always with a sense of urgency. In addition, all of his workers that we met were extremely polite, responsive, and easy to talk to. I was impressed by the way Mark talked to his workers as well. They all love him. He never talked down to them, but spoke with each of them as an equal when explaining what he wanted from them. They are a great team! It seemed that even with our minds made up before they began, my husband and I kept throwing little changes at them. They handled every request with grace and were very accommodating. I?ve always heard that remodeling jobs take their toll on couples but I have to say that this was the best experience I?ve ever had. They handled our home as if it were their own. They did a magnificent job! I would recommend them to anyone and I would use them over and over again! I can honestly say that we did not have one single ?encounter? during the entire makeover. "Our house looks amazing!? (Thanks, Amazing Siding!) They came and bid the project.? We had lots of special design requests and they incorporated all our ideas in their work. They used pre-colored hardiplank siding and it honestly looks perfect.? All old boards were removed, new layers of wood and insulation (according to hardiplank guidelines).? They cleaned up after the job and removed debris (some nails were still in the grass, so that's an area to follow up on).? We are VERY pleased and would definitely use them again."
