"Our project involved replacing drywall, crown and base molding, door frames and painting damage from flooding. HC was not the lowest bidder but very close. After their walkthrough and conversation, we immediately selected them. He was very knowledgeable, respectful, and professional. Our concern was getting the job done inexpensively, fast, and with good workmanship. Working from 8 to 5, they started Monday and worked until the job was done, which turned out to be Saturday. Their work was absolutely fantastic and could not have been better. They were highly focused, detailed, and very professional; simply just perfect! We checked their work every several hours and by the end of the first day we were stunned by the excellent quality of their work. In addition, there was a lot of sensitive stuff that easily could have gone missing but it was all there at completion. They were fantastic! Their work is impeccable. Their work was so good; I will be reaching out to them to paint my first floor and do other work for me. This is a professional group that does extremely good work at the lowest fair price. "Bottom Line: This is the second time using Manor Works, although the first time for carpentry. I hired them based primarily on previous excellent work on external painting of home, including complicated faux painting. Unfortunately, for carpentry they suffered from a serious quality control problem, and I would not use them again in this capacity. Communication: Scheduling the initial estimate was easy and timely, while communications continued throughout the process. Scoping Work: This is probably the most important first step in any project and often either messed up or purposely inflated. I needed pre-painted crown molding installed in one room. We requested professional-level carpentry to absolutely minimize any gaps between molding joints, the ceiling, and the walls – essentially a caulkless project. With the various angles in the walls and ceiling, we knew some tricky detailed cuts were going to be required. Quality of work. Frankly, 75-80% of contractors fail here for three primary reasons: a horrible handoff of details from the estimator to the onsite project foreman, project foreman and/or workers making assumptions vice asking the customer, and lack of quality detailed work. All three seemed to have come into play on this project. I knew I had a problem when the contractor asked me for the caulk. Because some boards were cut short and some angles were imprecise, there was a good amount of misalignment between boards and serious gaps between the board and the wall. In the third image, the corner of the board is broken out, and the carpenter wrote on a portion of the finished wall. That wall was painted in a textured, two-tone, faux appearance that takes time and expertise. It's not a simple paint this spot touchup. Due to the dark color of the trim, some of the joint misalignments I could hide with detailed painting and very precise and limited caulking, but the areas where it was chipped out and some of the wall gaps , especially where you can look up and see the nails going through, had to be completely replaced - meaning new crown molding, sanding, priming, painting, cutting, and nailing — both time and money for me. I realize this work can be challenging when the walls are at various angles. It's meticulous and takes a great deal of patience and care. I do my own baseboard, shoe molding, and short runs of crown, so I know it could have been done better than this. A previous contractor recently did it better in our powder and mud room. Pricing: Price was the best of three highly ranked Angie’s List companies, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for. It was very disappointing"

"We hired Wow 1 Day for 2 separate projects and each one was high quality work with professional service and communications. The first was after we had a flood and needed to get our basement painted after water remediation. The second time we use the company to repaint our entire house. They were great helping with color consultations. We let our kids have some say over there rooms but the company was great in helping with that process. They also helped us be selective about trim and doors that didn't need to repainted to keep us on budget. I would recommend this company without reservation."

"While we are generally satisfied with the fresh look of the newly painted surfaces, not much care was taken with the fence staining. The fence is old so we expected some uneven stain, but several interior borders were missed and there are boards with stain runs and drips which looks sloppy. In addition, paint dripped onto our siding when the back shutters were being painted, and wasn't cleaned off. Scraping and painting the iron railing on the front steps takes a lot of work, and we were going to do it ourselves, but were assured by Solution that they would do a thorough job with scraping, priming, and painting. However, within 5 months, the paint was already chipping off, and we're going to have to do it ourselves anyhow. We were less satisfied with the project management and communication from the company regarding the project. We got a quick estimate visit (we accepted the same day and provided paint and stain colors 2 days later) and assurance that we would be contacted with the start date within a few days. I emailed Solution after 3 weeks of no communication from them and was promptly given some date options, leaving me to wonder when we would have eventually been contacted. We scheduled date 2 weeks from then, and the workman showed up on the scheduled start date with no materials because he did not know the paint and stain colors, although we had provided them. When I provided the information again to the office, I was told they didn't work with the particular brand of stain I had chosen; they could have been up front with this and saved me an extra trip to Home Depot. To continue, the workman power washed the fence and then left without doing any prep work. To our minds, he could have started scraping the front railing, or gone and purchased the materials and got started on the priming. It turned into a longer job with less on-site workmen than I was told when asking questions during the estimate. The workmen also asked whether the wood under the deck needed stained, although it was stated on the estimate. We went with Solution Painting in part because of the good reviews that were posted for the company, but I don't think we would use them again."
