"My mom's house has needed rewiring for a long time, and during his initial inspection, Steve informed us that the entire house had aluminum wiring, which is not uncommon for houses built in the late '60s to early '70s. I asked him for a quote to rewire the garage (light, garage door opener and light switch), replacing the aluminum with new copper. He did the majority of the job in one day, but had to come back the following day because he had difficulty finding a part for the new circuit. He didn't drone on with any excuses, just reasoned that the part was harder to find than he expected. The unexpected issue was minor and it did not impact anyone's schedule, so I appreciate that he took his time to find the correct solution. I highly recommend him for any job. Steve is honest and upfront, and doesn't mind answering questions."

"They were very, very nice, very cordial, very professional, and was here when he told us that he was going to be here, although since then his workers left a hole on the bottom end of the breaker panel that we had replaced. I had him come back out and he did come back out and looked at that. He said that he could easily get a piece of wood and bring it back out and frame that. That was one of the things that we wanted to cover up. He said he could do that for us and get a piece of wood and do that. I called him twice, but I haven't gotten a return answer from him. I don't if he's going to come back and do that or not. It's an opening the whole width of the breaker panel. When they put the breaker panel on, we had a hole at the top and they covered the top hole up wonderfully, but the breaker panel was not long enough to cover it up on the bottom so we still have that opening, the whole width of the breaker panel on the bottom. Because we are thinking of selling our house and we'll have an electrical inspection come in, they are going to look at that and ask what's wrong with it. That is one of the things that we are particularly interested in making sure too that was covered up. He hasn't answered my call and I just gave him a call a couple of days ago. I don't know if he's coming back or not. He has always been so cordial and always seems like he's interested in helping out, but we'll see. I don't want to say that he's not going to do that because I know he gets really, really busy as they all do. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's still going to come back and do that. I may go ahead and call him again. Other than that, I like what he has done. I like the workmanship that the workers had out here, and he is a very, very nice person. Other than that, I really don't consider the work totally done yet. I know it's not going to be a hard thing to do, and he didn't think it would be a hard thing to do, and he thought he would be able to find a piece of wood easily, but it's just not finished work yet in my eyes."

"My sprinkler system runs off the same well as my neighbor's, so a wire from my system runs into my neighbor's yard to a relay to turn on the pump in their yard. While the gas company was moving gas lines they damaged the wire in one place in my neighbor's yard, and tore up the junction where my wire was tied into their wiring system. The gas company sent out another sprinkler company to fix the problem, but that company reconnected the wires wrongly, so that my neighbor's system worked but mine did not. It turned out they had actually tied my wire's common in with my neighbor's, thus connecting the two houses' electrical systems (which should not happen). So I called Jim Joyce at Heart of Service, who had done some repairs for me before, and he brought several gadgets which helped him to track wires and figure out how they were all connected. He worked systematically through the wiring until he figured out what was improperly connected, fixed the connections, and determined that one of the wires must also be damaged somewhere underground. He located that damage and fixed it. He got everything working, and then fixed and adjusted a few bad sprinkler heads, and put the exposed junction into an in-ground box, in about five hours. After having other sprinkler guys come through and complain about what a mess our system was, and then proceed to mess it up further, and then prove unable to diagnose the problem when called back, it was a blessed relief to have Jim's calm, professional, systematic mind at work. Jim also happens to be a gem of a guy, and he even dresses professionally. The only trouble I have ever had with Jim is that sometimes he is very busy and can't come as soon as I would like, but in the future I will just wait for him to be available. I won't let anyone else touch our sprinkler control wiring ever again! <br />"
