"The gentleman was extremely professional, very polite, checked my air conditioning unit (it's old), confirmed eventually it would have to be replaced, but said as long as it was doing okay, leave it.  He went up in my attic and checked the evaporator.  He said that was where it was likely leaking freon.  He recharged my unit and said we should wait to see if the unit needs to be recharged again, and if so, he would then do a more thorough inspection of the evaporator unit.  He was extremely polite, professional and I felt very comfortable with his services.  It was a Sunday afternoon (very hot) and he didn't tack on a bunch of "overtime" or "time and a half" fees on top of his standard costs.  I would HIGHLY recommend this company!!!  If I could give them a better rating than A, I would do it!

"Tech was great. Disappointed that my new Trane HVAC experienced a sensor problem after only two weeks. The new system, however, is more technically sophisticated than the one installed in 2012."

"I called Aire Serv when I noticed that the condenser fan was not turning, . We already on their maintenance plan. They said that a technician would be available in four hours. Soon, they called back. A technician finished up early and is available. Justin, the technician, came quickly. He checked the controller in the attic and then the condenser outside. Justin had to replace the capacitor. It was eight years old. The normal life is five years. He tested that everything was working before he left. Not only was Justin efficient, he was polite and friendly. It was a hot day in September; Aire Serv saved us."

"I love, love, love Grant Air Conditioning. They always come when they say they will, if not sooner, and the servicemen they send are always nice and efficient. I have used them probably a half dozen times, and have always been super happy with the service. This last time my outdoor fan wasn't coming on when the a/c kicked on, so my house wasn't cooling. Steve discovered that the contactor was completely fried, replaced it, cleaned the unit, inspected the unit, and when everything met with his satisfaction, was on his way."

"Everything went great. They were professional. They sent a video introducing who would be doing the work. They assessed the problems, gave me a fair quote & I had the whole HVAC system replaced! Excellent job. Tomorrow the owner will come and explain everything to me again & I will download the thermostat app and complete the transaction $$"

"Metro Air did an excellent job! I highly recommend this company, especially Ron, my technician. At first I thought i just needed Freon , then thought it was a bad capacitor, come to find out I needed a whole new outside unit. The price was on the higher end of the spectrum when I googled comparable pricing, however the customer service I received was excellent. All care was kept in keeping my home, inside and outside, clean and tidy. Ron was prompt and pleasant to work with. They work on Sundays, and came out immediately when I called with my air troubles. Great company! Thank you Metro Air!"

"I received excellent response from Rescue Air to my online request for an appointment when my air conditioning stopped cooling for the second time this summer. Elizabeth responded immediately and Allyssa scheduled a service call that day. Roman was able to able repair my old system. I knew from previous service calls that it would need to be replaced à ¢à  à  soon.à ¢à  à  I decided to go ahead and replace the system. Roman gave me professional counsel on what was needed for my situation and the choices available. Looking forward to the install tomorrow and peace of mind of a reliable system."

FAQs for air conditioning projects in Bedford, TX

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.

Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.

Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.

Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.

Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
