"this was a Sunday and they provide 24/7 HVAC service. The technician came to my house within approximately an hour and a half. He diagnosed the problem and he had the part on his truck needed to repair it. I called probably seven or eight people to help repair my air conditioning because itâ s the only one I have and I cannot live in heating and humidity. Air Serv was the only one who responded immediately."

"John and Zack from Bama Air Systems were personable and professional as they replaced our old mini split system with a quality mini split. The four other companies that came out before Bama didn't have a clue on what to do. Thanks Bama Air!"

"They called to say Andrew was on his way. He arrived soon after that. He immediately got to work and told me what the problem was and explained what would be done. He let me know about my HVAC overall health and explained the upcoming 2020 EPA changes to freon used by my unit. I will not hesitate to call on Ethridge again. I'm very happy with their work."

"I normally don't write reviews, but One Source Heating and Cooling instead saved me! My house was FREEZING and with a young child at home, I needed help fast. The office staff was friendly and helpful from the start, sending a service technician out shortly after. I even got a phone call when he was on the way, which helps so much when you have kids. Instead of trying to sell me a new unit, the tech was professional , and fixed our heat in no time. I could tell he was very knowledgeable about heating and air, and not just trying to make a sale. I am so thankful for the service I received, I even got a call back a few days later making sure everything was okay. I highly recommend them for any heating and air issues."

"This was a smooth and seamless experience. Their team redid ductwork under our crawlspace, and throughout the hiring process and job, their team was on top of communication. The work crew was friendly and courteous and came prepared with everything they needed. And best of all, they were prompt and kept to their time schedule as promised. They were in and out within two days as planned, and left the work area as clean as when they started. Great job."

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.
Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.
Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.
Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.
Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
