"Ali came over to our home when we called with a concern of the air flow in our central air conditioning system. He checked the return, the air flow, the temperature at all of the vents, and the entire system. It had more to do with the age of the system and gave us suggestions on how a different filter could increase the air flow. He did all of this and refused to take any money for his time. He is a true honest professional and someone that we would recommend to everyone."

"Vinny went way out of his way to go to Montauk to give me an estimate on an air conditioning unit in the downstairs and upstairs. He gave me a great price and kept me informed as to when he was picking up the ductless units and when he was going to install them. He and his son were professional and did a great job."

"From start to finish, dealing with Grant was top -notch. Eddie Reynold was very honest and straight forward about what I'd need and what they could do. I had a proposal from Grant a few years ago, but didn't install at that time as I would have needed to install a more powerful air handler. At that time, Eddie explained that my current unit older, and was not sufficient to drive CAC. Fast forward, after an emergency over the winter required a new furnace upgrade, I called Grant again to re-assess. Eddie assured me that my new system was more than capable, and sent me a proposal the next day. Quite frankly, I didn't check other companies as Grant came well recommended, and I was very impressed with Eddie and his knowledge off the situation. He gave me 2 options, and let me decide. I chose the slightly larger and more efficient unit, but I never felt pressured or that I was being up-sold. On installation day, the crew arrived literally at 8:00am on the dot, they were very courteous, professional, and understanding. They went over every aspect of the install before they began, we looked at the area where ai wanted the condenser to be installed. They voiced some concerns, but assured me they'd be able to get it done. They were aware that I wanted the line sets run a certain way, but let me know that given where I wanted the condenser, that may not be possible, When they realized that my desire to have the lines on the other side of the duct in the basement was not possible (given where I wanted the unit outside, they showed me exactly why they couldnâ t do that - and suggested that if I wanted the line sets to go there, they would have to move the condenser quite a bit closer to the front of the house - which they sensed I wouldnâ t want. They explained ALL of the factors involved and let me make the final decision before drilling an unnecessary hole etc, Having had numerous crews in my home over the years, this was a really welcome change - it is rare that a crew shows such regard for the owner's desire. They simply explained my options, and let me make the choice, Aside from that, they were very neat and clean and assured me that they would run the line sets very neatly so as not to take up too much space. Away from that, they also triple checked how I wanted the condenser to be placed, and showed me all the possibilities before placing the unit. In my experience this is very rare, Typically, a crew takes the easy way out, and then alerts the owner that â sorry but we did it this wayâ ¦â In short, the Grant crew was respectful of what I wanted, and did their best to accommodate my wishes. They were pleasant, courteous, and respectful of my home. After the install was finished, they made sure that I was happy with everything, showed me why they had to do things the way they did given my concerns, and left the work area spotless. The unit was perfectly level, the lines were tight, they filled the gap in the wall, etc. The independent electrician also was fantastic - he was running a bit late, yet had the courtesy to call to alert me. His work was pristine. Looking at all of the wires and lines, and the meticulous nature with which they were installed, I am was impressed with his work. Again, I canâ t say enough about the professionalism of the Grant crew. I had no doubt that Grant was the best choice for this job, and I am so happy with the result. I would highly recommend Grant for any sort of HVAC work."

"Ray was friendly and very professional and you can tell immediately that he was very customer oriented. As far as prices go, he was more than fair compared to the other bids. As a matter of fact I expanded the scope of his work to include a new water heater too. All the equipment supplied was 100% new, still in the factory cartons and the installation work was TOP QUALITY. Ray not only sold me the job but he did the installation too. He and partner Ken, and their assistant (3 man crew total) worked very professionally and effectively. Needless to say I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM."

FAQs for air conditioning projects in Montauk, NY

A standard blower door test takes between 30 minutes and one hour to complete. The process involves setting up specialized equipment in your doorway, running the fan to create pressure differences, and taking measurements throughout your home. Additional services like thermal imaging or detailed leak detection will extend this timeframe. The technician will also spend time explaining the results and making recommendations based on their findings.

Preparation involves turning off all combustion appliances, such as gas furnaces and water heaters, for safety. Secure all exterior doors and windows, but leave interior doors open to allow airflow throughout the house. Close fireplace dampers and cover any ashes to prevent them from being drawn into living spaces. Clear access to potential inspection areas like attics and crawlspaces, and inform everyone in the household about the test to prevent accidental door openings during the process.

Older homes often benefit most from blower door testing because they have more air leakage points than newer construction. The test can pinpoint specific areas where relatively inexpensive improvements will yield significant energy savings.

Many homeowners of vintage properties report noticeable reductions in drafts and more consistent indoor temperatures after addressing issues identified during testing. The potential utility savings often recover the testing cost within a reasonable timeframe.

New construction must meet increasingly stringent energy codes that specify maximum allowable air leakage rates. Meeting these standards requires careful attention to air sealing details during construction.

Success depends largely on properly installing air barriers, thoroughly sealing around penetrations, and quality control throughout the building process. While achieving code compliance is challenging, builders who implement systematic air sealing protocols succeed in meeting required standards.

It's best to schedule a follow-up test after completing all recommended air sealing and insulation work. This allows you to verify the effectiveness of your improvements as a complete package. Allow sufficient time for all sealing materials to cure properly—often a few weeks after completion. The verification test provides documentation of your home's improved performance and confirms you've addressed the issues identified in the initial assessment.
