"First off, If this guy serves your area, you need to call him and give you a chance. After another nameless company came out and inspected the problem, gave me the price tag by giving me a range from 1500 up to 2500 and suggested i might need a whole new unit. I called Billy from Select Air because of Angies list reviews. The man answered his phone promptly and when a message was left, he called me back quickly. He was punctual. Never stood me up and never kept me waiting. He walked in the door and had this echo of trustworthiness reserved for superheroes. 
I had told him about the problem and the first company that came out, he tested what they thought was the problem and verified the evaporator coil was in need of repair. And he walked me through everything from pricing, to why and what to expect. Although he couldn't help me right away because a part was needed and I had to put some scratch together to pay him, he helped me mitigate the problem until we could schedule an appointment. He provided advice for how to set the thermostat so that the pipes outside wouldn't freeze over. (which is what was happening). We were lucky to have a week with highs in the 70's for a few days to keep the temp in the house down. 
Since it's been fixed, I finally understand how broke my system actually was. He definitely fixed the right part. I can't recommend this guy enough. I'll be purchasing his annual checkup program once I recover from the cost of this fix.

Manny took the time to inspect my unit and found several mistakes the installer made 10 years ago. I got a quote that was several hundred dollars less than another A/C company. I scheduled Manny to come out today to do the job. I could tell from the beginning that Manny and Abel knew what they were doing. While Manny was disconnecting the condenser, Abel was in the attic tearing out the old unit and began putting in the new coils and return air duct work. The job took 6 hours. When they were finished, I inspected the completed job. It was an amazing transformation. The A/C was cooling the house until it became frigid.
