"I give Vicâ s Heating and Cooling an A-t rating. I chose this company over several others. Owner, Charles Vickers, is very professional and, honest man. His quote to come and repair my air conditioner was unbelievable compared to others for what they charge just to come out, even with senior citizen discount. My appt was at 8:00am, they were prompt on arrival. Mr. Vickers explained in detail everything they were doing to find the problem and, what they did to repair. My Ac in now working very well. They will always be my go guysâ ¼ï¸ I have already recommended them to several people. I also texted his business card to the office where I reside. They were very pleased with what I told them. The office manager advised she was going to call Mr Vickers to bring some business cards to the offices for other stockholders for repairs. Vicâ s is a smaller company, but they are the bestâ ¼ï¸"

"Roger Prevette and his employees saved me from a real life emergency by coming to my aid during this electrical outage, never leaving me and doing everything even going above and beyond what you would normally expect from a contractor. As an owner of the company Mr. Prevette did not have to be there during my troubles, but he is a person that cares about the people that he serves and he stayed with me until final electrical inspection was completed, the power company came to reconnect my service and my whole home generator was repaired and ready for my use whenever a power failure occurs. His whole company is very professional and willing to do the best job possible. If you need any of the services that he provides, give him a call and I am sure you will be absolutely overjoyed and the service that you get. He even offered to go get his personal generator and hook it up for me if we were unable to get the other sources back into operation. To me this man is a hero."

FAQs for air conditioning projects in Charleston, WV

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.

Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.

Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.

Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.

Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
