"I have a house with circa 1890's brick and mortar that once had seashells in it. David Ricard gave me a fair estimate to fill in mortar where a house brick was party broken by a telecom company and where some mortar fell out from an area a larger masonry company had repointed a few years before. David and his brother showed up on time, did the work in a reasonable amount of time, and cleaned up after. He showed that he understands different kinds of brick and the mortar required. I wish I had known about David before I hired that other company a few years before because the larger company didn't do a particularly good repointing job. I have upcoming mortar work needed on my front walkway and will be calling David for that repair. I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to others."

"They came with a large crew and did the work quickly. One part (fixing stone retaining walls) was very quick and they did an excellent job. The second (fixing the cement grouting on a flagstone walkway) was an excellent result but created a huge mess when the ground out grout was blown all over the front and stuck like glue to plants. The third (fixing a large flag stone patio with a soft grout compound) was not well done at all and created a really bad mess when the dry rubbery joint compound was blown around and stuck everywhere, even under my grill cover. That joint compound is also coming up in less than a year. So, traditional masonry work was done very well but with a huge mess, but they could not handle more modern material and do a consistent job."

"Mottern did a fantastic job designing and installing a large flagstone-on-concrete patio for us. The work included excavating and leveling the site, pouring and re-enforcing the slab, and selecting and purchasing the stone, brick and other materials. In addition to the patio, Mottern also filled in an approx. 12 sq/ft section of brick wall where a door had been converted to a window. The filled-in brick and mortar matches the original 50-year old wall perfectly. Overall, the entire Mottern crew was prompt, responsive, professional, and very skillful. We would definitely use Mottern again."

In working with Johnny on our patio/walkway design, Johnny did a fantastic job of offering ways we could take advantage of the natural rock formations in our backyard to lay out the patio to blend in with the free form shapes. Johnny developed a wonderful design that incorporated a space for our new hot tub that kept the natural, free form design look of the rest of the backyard. Johnny's team provided detailed drawings and images for our HOA approval process â and it was clear Deck Envy would be easy to work with, extremely reliable, and deliver an amazing stone patio/walkway. As with our deck remodel, project manager Ricardo did a fantastic job of securing the permits, communicating the requirements to the crew, and ensuring everything was done in a timely and quality manner. He did a great job of ensuring we were always up to speed on the status of the project and next steps. For the construction, Fabian and his crew did an amazing job building the stone walkway â exceeding our expectations with the finished project by even reassembling our old stone wall that had to be repositioned. Fabian and his crew ensured that the hot tub concrete slab was sound and able to withstand the hot tub weight â poured in a way to flow and connect to the new stone walkway. The overall look is absolutely stunning, and we couldnâ t be more pleased with our new backyard oasis."

"Bill Bitto was a pleasure to work with and his people were quick and efficient. The work looked great immediately and has continued to look great for the past 1 1/2 years. My only complaint is that the stone and mortar dust did bad things to the grass and plants adjacent to where they worked. I recommend placing a drop cloth to protect plants.

"Wow!!! This was not an easy project to describe and bid, largely because what we were trying to accomplish is quite unique. The property had a tricky change of elevation and undulation, and as far as materials, we wanted to blend the stone into an already existing stone garden design already on the property and adjacent to the to be installed fence. We wanted carderock stone that was identical in size and color pattern to what we had already - this is not as easy as simply going to the same quarry, which First Impressions gladly did. It is really a job that requires great skill and attention to detail to match the new wall perfectly, which they did. From start to finish, there were no issues. I was most impressed with four things - 1) the finished product, which completely blew us away, 2) the professionalism and integrity of the entire crew - from Mike the very thoughtful designer and primary point of contact who figured out how to make our vision work on the property (he brought a few very good suggested changes as well), to John the onsite project manager, to the stone layers, the wood workers and the lighting installers - they each wanted to make the customer happy, and obviously took great pride in their work, 3) the price, which was around 10 percent less than two other real bids, and 4) the reasonable time to completion, clean/tidy work site, and respectfulness toward our neighbors throughout the few week project. For us, this was our first sizable home project - Mike and John made use very comfortable throughout that our personal investment in our property was being taken very seriously by each of them - we felt that they wanted it to look even better than we did, which is a great feeling. When you get a better product than you could have imagined, that is hassle free and reasonably priced, it is tough not to be happy with the experience. I have nothing but positive impressions of First Impressions, and would very happily work with them again.
