He left a mess in my basement when he repaired the front stoop. He also used a folding chair in my basement to stand on without asking - it is now a mess. For the wood railing on the back stoop, I specifically asked for a 4-5" space to be left under the bottom of the railing so I could sweep snow off in the winter. I also wanted the railing going down the stairs. At first, he did not want to do this (said something about code did not require it for the 3 steps going up) but it was part of the estimate that I approved. I asked him to fix the space under the railing and put on the railing for the stairs. He did come back and fix all to my satisfaction. Very nice guy, just not punctual or professional.

"I have been getting a house ready to sell.  In the past year, Steve Cichos resurfaced stairs, repaired cracks in a cement porch and resurfaced it, and tore out and replaced a large portion of my driveway.  He really works hard to do quality work.  His prices are really reasonable.  So when an buyer's inspector discovered leaks around my chimney, Steve tore down multiple courses of brick to get to the suspect area, replaced the brickwork, added new flashing and installed a raincap.  The brick work is just beautiful.  He does a lot of his work between his regular jobs, so you'll want to plan in advance.  He is good about forecasting when he can get to a job, and is especially good about communicating any delays in starting.  Once he starts, he gets the job done as planned.  He keeps in touch by phone on a regular basis if you can't be there.  One thing that I really like about him is that he has his kids help him out.  He has taught them a great work ethic, and they are learning the trade as they go. "
