"We recently hired Shamrock Chimney to repoint the brick walls on both of our bay windows and our front steps. We also had them perform a safety inspection and cleaning of our gas fireplace. Mr. Juan Ortiz was the company representative, and we found him to be extremely knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. The repointing took approximately 7½ hours, and the results were exceptional. They carefully removed the old mortar, and the new mortar was matched perfectly to the existing brickwork. The bay window walls look like new again! They also completed a thorough safety inspection of our gas fireplace and did an excellent job cleaning the glass and fireplace. "Our front steps to our porch had seemed to settle, and there were cracks and gaps all over. Knowing we were going to have to rebuild them, we called VA Brick Dr first based on reviews. He even had us send him some pictures over text later in the day so he could start to give us an idea of what we were looking at. He came out the next day and examined our steps. He took a good long look at them and realized only one step had actually shifted, the rest of the steps and base were as they should be. He recommended only rebuilding the one step since everything else was measured correctly. Thrilled with that assessment, we had him do the work. I have no doubt other companies would have looked and just told us to rebuild the whole step structure, but he really took the time to make sure he gave us his honest opinion. About a month later he came and did the repair (weather kept delaying), and the end result came out better than we had hoped. He cleaned up the steps and joints all over, and looks good as new."

"Chuck Hipp and his employee, Antonio, did a phenomenal job! The brick fireplace was sinking and the bricks were separating from the wall. After investigation Chuck determined that there were no footers under the fireplace. He installed new footers, supported the brick wall and reattached all the bricks and suggested the fireplace be covered with stucco and tiles to match the Spanish style of the house. The fireplace turned out beautifully and became the true focal point of the living room. The house was listed for sale and I know the beautiful stucco fireplace helped to sell the home quickly. We moved to our new 1948 house and discovered that the chimney needed to be rebuilt. I received a bid from A Step in Time chimney sweeps which was astronomical. I then consulted a structural engineer who confirmed the bid was outrageously high. He recommended a good brickmason be consulted. I found Chuck Hipp and Hipp Masonry Works on Angies List. Chuck investigated the problem and determined that the chimney needed to be torn down and rebuilt at the roof line and he was able utilize new bricks with old bricks to match the new chimney addition to the existing home and bottom half of the chimney. He asked me to drive around and take photos of chimneys I liked and he would duplicate it. I found a chimney on a beautiful older home and Chuck was able to duplicate it to suit my brick, Tudor home. It is gorgeous and best of all the fireplace can now be used for a beautiful wood fire. He then removed and replaced all the broken, damaged bricks throughout the exterior of the house using mainly old bricks salvaged room the chimney rebuild. Chuck and Antonio did incredible work and at half the price of the previous bid. Before they left they brought in topsoil to fill in any holes in our lawn due to the work and they used soil to regrade the back of the house which had been the cause of damage to lower bricks. They also repointed the front steps and remortered the boxes for the exterior porch lights which were hanging loose from the brick exterior. I will only call the HippMasonry Works for any brick work."

"Ryan was very professional, friendly, and did a great job. He thoroughly inspected the fireplace and chimney, inside and out. He took photos of the chimney while he was on the roof so he could show me what was going on up there. He was very helpful and explained everything he did and what he found. He pointed out a potential problem with the mortar in the bricks on the chimney shoulder, but was very clear that it was okay to wait on that and see what develops and didn't try to push me into an unnecessary repair. Just gave me a quote on the fix. I will definitely use him again. In fact, I'm going to have him clean my gutters later this month. Highly recommend!
