In truth, it was simply microfiber, that plenty of other couches are made of. Ken extremely nice and helpful, demystified this issue for me, & earning my business in the process. They completed a great job with no "alleged" negative effects on the couch, such as the pigment coming off or fabric unraveling, and at a significant cost savings compared to the other guy.
