Customers say: Quality work
"Kurila Masonry just finished a job at my home which included replacement of two concrete sidewalks with brickwork, resurfacing of our front stoop and steps with stone, and repair of some of the concrete surface in our garage. The workmanship is high quality, looks great and was done on time at the pricing we agreed upon. Perparim was extremely helpful in suggesting options to choose from and delivered exactly what we agreed on. Would definitely use him again and recommend to others."

"Front of my stairs were starting to crumble and looked gross. I was having a hard time finding a permanent solution, at a reasonable price, and had curb appeal. Had a couple quotes but I’m glad I went with Design and Build Masonry LLC. Very nice people, family owned, and did an awesome job! Will be having them take care of some more projects for me."

"I had an existing slab in the backyard for a shed base. I wanted to extend it and keep the same pitch for water to run off. Nick and his crew made very short work it. From the site preparation, the form install, the sand and stone base, the reinforcement, to the pouring and cleaning up. They were fast and professional. They do great work and would recommend them to anyone!!"

"We could not be more pleased with Begoâ s masonry! We used them for a back yard patio/firepit and new front walkway and steps. Ernest is awesome. He takes the time to explain the different products and process and there is absolutely no sales pressure. Ernest is super responsive and responds to texts, emails and calls very fast. He was onsite every day of the job. His father is amazing and is a true craftsman, takes extreme pride in his work. The crew showed up on time, were very hard working and had great attention to detail. They completed the work faster than originally quoted and we couldnâ t be more pleased. I would highly recommend them. We had several masons quote the job but hands down Begoâ s was the best. We are already looking for our next project for Begoâ s to support."

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
