"Mission Impossible (transforming an overgrown narrow, rutted, rooty dirt path into a gorgeous 3-ft.-wide edged stone walkway with a small patio and entryway) is complete, and we could not be happier. The installation makes a design statement without in any way overwhelming our 1876 farmhouse—the stone is incredible, the work is artful and solid, and the project seems to grow out of the landscape, exactly what we wanted. The artistry and attention to detail in choosing/placing the stones elevates the installation to something truly special. Since our primary residence is 90 minutes away, we greatly appreciated the numerous photos, texts, and calls to update us on progress, as well as Rock 'N Garden's reliability, timeliness, and punctuality. At the end, the job site was left clean as a whistle. This is five-diamond work, and we have already contracted for another project on our property."

"The foundation was shifting. They drilled holes, put anchors. They put in a moisture barrier. They totally remedied it. They were professional. They have a whole team of architects. They were great! I recommend them to anyone who has basement problems. Very timely, professional."

"Juan was an absolute pleasure to work with. He made a large project of doing a concrete walkway and stairs a easy one. Everything from my initial phone call went smoothly and quickly. He supplied a written quote and was available for any questions. He returns your calls and shows up on time when promised. The quality of the work is excellent. We love our new walkway and stairs. Juan took our ideas and made them better. The quote we received was reasonable and exactly what we paid. I have already had neighbors stop by to comment on how good it looks. Thank you to Juan and Greenstone Waterproofing. If I have other projects in the future I know who to call."

"Quality of work from WC Landscape and Masonry is top notch. Wilson, the owner of the firm, is very courteous, extremely responsive and does not need constant follow up for the work to be delivered. His crew too, model this behavior. This is the only firm I have hired for work on my properties since 2018 and not even once have I had any reason to complaint."

"For many contractors, boss does not do anything but takes jobs from customers. This is not the case for Villa and Sons Construction. Franklin is the boss but he does everything just as his employees. I guess this is one of the reasons his price is more reasonable compared to others. Michael, who takes phone call from the office , is also very helpful in coordinating time. I’d recommend this business to all my friends and neighbors!"

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
