"I needed a small patio (< 100 sq ft) in a limited space, in my narrow side yard, after I had a sliding glass door installed.  I considered several options: concrete slab, wood deck, pavers, etc.  I narrowed it down to pavers or stamped concrete.  Aaron came out and talked me through the pros and cons, showed me photos of work that his crew had done in both paver & concrete, and ultimately provided estimates of both.  It was entirely up to me - no pressure either way. I chose the more expensive option because I really liked the photos of his work that he shared in his portfolio.  Aaron and his crew worked with my schedule to get the work done.  Once the project was started, I made a minor change regarding the step-height - the crew leader, Jesus, agreed and was very accommodating.  I also appreciated being able to use PayPal to pay for the project.  My only (very minor) complaint would be with the clean up.  There were a lot of concrete blobs around the patio after they pulled the forms and left.  I picked these up before raking and mowing so they wouldn't cause any problems with the mower or my feet.  I didn't even think to mention it to Aaron - as I said, it was minor."

"Ivan and his crew were very professional. The house was leveled, the doors were square again and the wall cracks were nearly completely closed. They cleaned up the site very well. The concrete patch work is OK, but not great, it could have been better. Overall, I am very satisfied."

"Pinckard Landscaping installed two French drains and we now have a backyard rather than a mud pit. The projected was completed timely and accurately. We will call Pinckard Landscaping when we need ANY of the services they offer! Their pricing is fair. They usually are not the cheapest but they leave your property better than expected. You can call them with any questions or concerns and they are quick to respond. We highly recommend Pinckard to anyone needing patio, fencing, French drains, or any other service they offer."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Sherman, TX

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
