"My husband and I do recommend Uprise construction. They mitigated issues with our roof at our recently purchased home. They fixed the issues quickly and at a very fair cost. They came back a second time for a small repair. No issues since. Again, we do recommend Uprise. They stand behind their work and are very reasonable."

"From the initial phone call to the completion of the job Quality 1st provided top notch professional service. A couple points which makes this easy to write. Communication is key whether in person or via telephone and Q1 was exceptional in this regard at every point. Telephone conversations with customer services was pleasant and cordial, never rushed or snotty. Paul our salesman was here for quite a while answering questions and assessing our needs in the basement. Of only was he on time for our appointment he was about 10 minutes early too. The cost of this project was a good chunk of change for us but after too many times of shop-vac’ing water we knew it was time to bite the bullet and move forward with making life a little easier and not have the issue of when will we get water in the basement again hanging over our heads. I was impressed that Quality 1st uses their own products and has their own R&D facilities. As for the installation, enough cannot be said for the crew that was here. I got the call at 9am they would be here in 20 minutes and at 9:20 they were backing in my driveway. I met the foreman Mario and his 2 helpers. We went into the basement and they looked around and asked if I had any questions. We had almost everything out of the basement and what was left they covered in plastic. By 9:50am they were running the jackhammers. We have a 1,500 sqft ranch and these guys worked all day, they didn’t stop and worked their tails off. I can’t remember exactly when the jackhammer stopped but by 2 pm the channel was dug out and they were beginning to lay out for the channel that carries the water to the sump. About 4pm Kyle showed up to assess the job and see if I had any questions or concerns. We spoke about the job and we went downstairs to see the progress. He stayed on site for about 45 minutes after making sure I was comfortable with how the job was going. By 5:15 or so the job was completely finished. Before they left Mario went over everything regarding the sump system. As far as cleanup, this is a dusty job. Concrete dust is ultra fine and they did a fantastic job of not only sweeping but they also dusted off areas which were not covered in plastic. They left no mess to speak of., I was very satisfied with their work and attention to detail. It’s easy to nitpick any job at anytime and there is nothing I would call them out on. Finally as for the functionality of the sump system I wish I had a comment on that at this time. We’ve lived in our house for 25 years and until around Thanksgiving of this year (2018) we’ve only had water about 4 times. Between Thanksgiving (2018) and New Years (2019) we got slammed 4 times and nothing since. With the symptoms of how our basement got water, I feel comfortable with the system Quality 1st installed and am confident they will stand behind their work and warranty. We’re also happy this is transferable to the next homeowner when we sell the house and it is an excellent selling point when the time comes."

"We contacted Rob Cunliffe at Basement Medics after an old repair (12 years prior) to a crack in our poured concrete basement wall began to leak seriously during a recent heavy rainstorm. He responded that same evening, a Sunday, and after describing our situation to him he asked if he could meet us to see the problem before recommending a solution. He arrived promptly the following Saturday morning and spent a great deal of time explaining why the previous repair had ultimately failed and how their approach would remedy the problem permanently. During our discussion Rob answered all of our questions, addressed all of our concerns and never made us feel that he needed to be at his next appointment. He looked at other areas of the basement but saw no reason to fix what wasnt broke so he did not try to sell us more than what we needed. He sent us an a very reasonable estimate a couple of days later which was exactly what he told us when we spoke earlier. His estimate was very detailed and complete and described how the wall would be prepared for the new repair. We accepted the estimate and set up an appointment to begin the repair. Rob and his son, Ryan arrived promptly several days later and completely removed the old repair and prepared the wall for their waterproofing system. This process included application of 2 separate coats of radon sealer after which the wall was allowed to stand for several days to permit the sealant to penetrate the concrete. During this time Rob noted that we should see some efflorescence as the sealant penetrated the wall which was normal. They cleaned up the area and returned several days later to complete the job. They finished the new repair and again cleaned up the area. Overall, both Rob and Ryan are very pleasant to deal with and quite knowledgeable about the waterproofing business. In particular, Rob knows his business and their competitors products. He presents the advantages and drawbacks to other products as an honest comparison. His estimate was exactly what we paid for the repair. It is evident that Rob and his son take a great deal of pride in their work and strive to provide the very best service they can. We are extremely pleased with their work and would recommend them highly to anyone in need of an honest assessment of waterproofing issues without the pressure of a sales pitch."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Pennington, NJ

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
