His estimate was reasonable, and he worked with our schedule, meeting us in March on the property and again in late May for the demolition. He and his crew managed the excavator (?T-Rex? as we nicknamed it) with surprising precision, separating out all the metal for recycling, picking up discarded furniture and debris left under a porch, moving a heavy wood stove we kept to a shelter nearby, even pulling the trailer away from a border of hydrangeas and hostas and preserving them. On the advice of the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, we asked him to make sure his contractors? mix of grass seed did not include lespedeza sp, an exotic invasive with protein that is not ideal for wildlife. He double-checked that it didn't, personally raked final debris from our site and seeded it with a healthy mix, putting down a final layer of straw as promised.
