"From the first phone call to our final handshake goodbye, Zach Lancaster was nothing but professional, showing up on short notice on a rainy day to discuss the demolition of a rundown trailer on our recently purchased property near family outside Asheville. He communicates promptly and thoroughly by text or phone, and answered all our questions as they popped up, a relief given that we live out of state. His estimate was reasonable, and he worked with our schedule, meeting us in March on the property and again in late May for the demolition. He and his crew managed the excavator (?T-Rex? as we nicknamed it) with surprising precision, separating out all the metal for recycling, picking up discarded furniture and debris left under a porch, moving a heavy wood stove we kept to a shelter nearby, even pulling the trailer away from a border of hydrangeas and hostas and preserving them. On the advice of the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, we asked him to make sure his contractors? mix of grass seed did not include lespedeza sp, an exotic invasive with protein that is not ideal for wildlife. He double-checked that it didn't, personally raked final debris from our site and seeded it with a healthy mix, putting down a final layer of straw as promised. The site is beautiful and we couldn't be more pleased. Zach is a class act."

"The team that came arrived on time and completed the work as expected for the agreed price. They were pleasant and respectful. The work was completed carefully and without disruption to the house. The work took longer to complete then anticipated but the crew remained positive and friendly. They were respectful and offered suggestions when I (homeowner) was asked how I preferred some things to be done. We are preparing to sell our house and had some punch list items left from gut renovating the kitchen and they performed a variety of tasks to make those items return the expected value on the house and get it ready to sell."

FAQs for demolition service projects in Asheville, NC

Mobile home manufacturers recommend releveling every three to five years, though this interval may vary based on your local soil conditions, climate patterns, and the age of your home. Warning signs that your home needs attention include difficulty opening doors or windows, visible wall cracks, and uneven flooring. Regular professional inspections can help determine the optimal timing for your specific situation.

Your manufactured home likely requires leveling when you notice doors or windows becoming difficult to operate, visible cracks appearing in walls (particularly around doorframes), floors feeling uneven or bouncy underfoot, or cabinets that no longer close properly. You might also notice unusual creaking sounds when walking across certain areas or water pooling on countertops. These symptoms indicate that settling has occurred, and professional attention is warranted.

Failing to address leveling needs can lead to progressive structural damage, including wall cracks, roof leaks, plumbing failures, and door or window malfunctions. The uneven stress on your home's frame can cause permanent warping over time, potentially compromising its overall structural integrity.

Additionally, energy efficiency decreases as gaps develop around windows and doors. Addressing leveling needs promptly helps protect your investment and maintain your home's value.

While minor leveling adjustments might be possible for experienced DIYers, the process requires specialized tools, including hydraulic jacks, levels, and appropriate shims. DIY leveling costs up to $500 in materials alone. However, improper techniques can cause serious structural damage or personal injury.

For safety reasons and quality assurance, professional assistance is strongly recommended, especially when piers show signs of deterioration or significant leveling corrections are needed.
