"Kenny contacted me promptly, answered all my questions, and scheduled fairly quickly. On June 2nd, the duo assigned for the job showed up. I don't remember their names. The main task I wanted completed was replacing our 20 year old, very noisy bath fan.
I purchased a Broan bath fan with a 1.5 sones rating, which is supposedly very quiet. When the team said they were finished w/the fan and started on the other tasks, I excitedly turned on the new bathfan. And it was noisy. Almost as noisy as the old fan. I asked the team to look at it again, and they did spend quite a bit of time trying to figure it out. They suggested that perhaps there was a loose part rattling around. I could purchase another fan, try swapping out the motors, and see if the fan was indeed busted. I wasn't too thrilled, but I decided to wait before passing final judgment.
Kenny emailed to follow up. I explained about the bathfan, and I also said I was hoping for more diagnostic information than "the ceiling fan is broken." I knew it was broken, but I wanted to know if a repair or replacement was necessary.
Not long after, we had the same bathfan installed using a different Angie's List deal w/a different company, and that one was fine. We asked Kenny to have someone come to fix the problem, and he did schedule to have someone come out. That technician said the problem is that we needed a reduced to properly connect the fan to the duct. The duct was just resting inside the bathfan outlet, and it was rattling around creating a lot of noise. The technician did not *have* a reducer, but told my husband what to get so we could fix the problem ourselves. He tried to jimmy a fix w/tape, but that did not do anything. purchased the reducer and installed it, and the fan is now very quiet.
While Kenny's communication and professionalism with *us* was fine, we feel that perhaps better information could have been shared on their back end. The original team could have easily said "we needed a reducer" so the problem was known and we could have been told to have a reducer handy for the new tech to install it. Maybe this was an experience issue?
We actually discussed for a while how to rate Dynamo. On the one hand, they could have refused to send out another team to investigate the problem. I think Kenny does care that the job is done properly and he is very communicative via email. I received several emails from him past business hours. On the other hand, it seems there was some kinks to be worked out w/some of their electrician teams. Maybe for run of the mill changing switches and installing a different light they are just fine. We were satisfied w/the smaller tasks they performed. The bathfan seemed to become a problem when it didn't have to be.
