"We had our garage door spring break on a Friday. American Home Shield couldn't get anyone to come out before the following week, so we inquired as to which Garage Door Companies would fix it as emergency, since my wife has medical conditions and needs to be able to travel. Of the two Garage Door Companies that are available 24 hours, A1 Garage Door Service LLC was the only one that could be there same evening. They got to our home to fix the broken spring so we could open the Garage around 8:00 pm."

"A few days ago my garage door became inoperable. I called Brace Yourself. They responded immediately. Miguel scheduled an appointment for the next day. He arrived on time. Identified the problem, explained in detail what he needed to do to repair the door. Miguel did an exceptional job. He was professional, communicated well, courteous, proficient and efficient, skillful. He completed the job in thirty minutes. I will recommend him to anyone that is looking for a superior handyman."

"Heon Painting did a fantastic job! They were always friendly and so easy to work with! I really feel like they went above and beyond in so many ways! On the side of our house they found a board that really needed to be replaced, which they did with no extra charge! There was also an air vent that needed a new board, also replaced. Our outside light was also installed incorrectly and the prior owner LOADED it with caulk to make it stay. Heon Painting dug out all the caulk and repaired the wall then installed the light CORRECTLY! WOW! It was completely unexpected! He provided a paper contract and completed everything on the list and MORE! The own and his whole team were the nicest folks and their taste in music while they work is fantastic!! We have already recommended them to our friends and family and will use them in the future to paint the inside of our garage. Thank you again Heon Painting!!!"

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Catalina, AZ

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
