"I cannot give enough kudos to the Conrad Homes crew. Mike West, John and Brian did a thoroughly professional job finishing part of our unfinished basement. The work is well done and finished very nicely; they were efficient and friendly. Work included framing, drywall, trim, suspended ceiling and painting, plus installation of several electrical outlets and ceiling fixtures."

"I've done many remodeling projects at three properties in the last ten years, and worked with some great contractors. Tradesman has been the best of the best! The quote was detailed and transparent, and they were flexible about start date. The project had many components requiring many different experts. Once we started, Hunter the project manager was responsive throughout, and did an amazing job of coordinating everything with never a wasted day. The team was great about anticipating potential problems and preventing them in advance. When a few minor issues did crop up, they immediately offered solutions. All the workers were friendly and professional, and went out of their way to accommodate special requests. The end result is attractive and functional -- exactly what I wanted in every way."

"We had been in a renovation nightmare with other contractors, but Bruce took over as my project manager and handled everything for us. He did quality work on our home and we were very pleased with the end result. Very professional, dependable, hard working, and delivered top notch work to our large scale renovation. I would highly recommend him for any project you may be looking to do."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
