"Tony and his crew were amazing . Spring of 2025 did new roof. 2 days in hot temps and wasp. They were amazing! Recently had a large limb fall on roof. They came and secured the roof. Today they repaired it! We appreciate their quality of work! His crew will be replacing a door frame at our business on Monday! We are blessed to have them!"

"Mr Evan's was very prompt. We called him on Monday and our door was fixed Tuesday afternoon. Great at communication via text and phone. Knew exactly what needed to be done when I showed him the issue. He came well prepared in case of any other issues came up during the repair, he was able to replace rollers and springs that were an issue as well. Actual cost was below estimate. He was very considerate about our animals on opening gates when he needed to for garage access, made sure no one got out of the yard. Exceptional work, repair time, and knowledge of the work needed. Will definitely use his services again. Very thankful to have great service here in town. Found a place that had a strong online presence from Paducah that I had called first, they still have not even returned my call, and Mr Evan's already has me fixed up. A-1 Garage Doors is definitely the company to call when you need to get things fixed"

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Farmington, KY

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
