"They did an excellent job. They were expensive, but you get what you pay for. The building inspector of the city said this was the best built garage he had ever inspected. I would highly recommend them and I would definitely hire them again."

"He came out the same morning I contacted HomeAdvisor. What I thought would be a complete overhaul, he had fixed before I arrived from work to my house. Total cost $80. I do need to replace the garage door & assembly in the near future, but he said this fix would give me some more time to save up. Quote for new door/assembly very reasonable. Will be using Helmuth when the time comes."

"I live in Danville Illinois, built a new garage, and needed 2 garage doors installed. Called 3 places in Danville. Apparently the garage door business in Danville is very good, one out of the 3 called back and said it would be 2 or 3 months ? Wabash called back and got me taken care of in 3 days even with holidays. The 2 guys were very professional, and worked very good as a team together. Would highly recommend to anyone needing garage door work, couldn't be more satisfied, and thanks for their quick work. They made it look very easy."

"I reached out to Rescue Concrete for an estimate and they showed up the next day to do so and took the time to explain what it is they do and how it would be applied. We had the pleasure to deal with Max who was amazing throughout the entire process. He was a great communicator and the finished product was beautiful. I highly recommend anyone who is planning on getting their floors flaked and epoxied (not sure if thatâ s exactly what itâ s called) to contact Rescue Concrete to do so. Iâ d give them 10 stars if I could!! Will definitely be using them again on future projects."

"Tom was excellent in all aspects of the project. We thoroughly discussed what needed to be done, he suggested a couple of options to complete the project, and was timely in his completion of said project. The closet doors and trim were just beautiful after he refinished them! Tom is very easy to get along with. He listens to what your needs are, asks appropriate questions, makes suggestions after listening to your needs, and makes sure you (and he) are pleased with the final outcome. I would (and will) highly recommend Tom for any and all home improvement projects and/or repairs, and I will definitely be using his services again!"

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Ludlow, IL

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
