"First and foremost, Coach House builds an excellent garage. They use their employees, and it was put up in one day. The issue is with their sub contractors -specifically the concrete and electrical. The rainy spring delayed the pouring of the concrete, which they could not help. Once they completed the pour, it appeared as though there were rough spots on the floor. I sent pictures to my sales person and his sales manager and was told it was concrete dust. The ridges were clearly visible in the picture. Then I was told it was discoloration and would “cure” over time. No one came out to visually inspect the issue until much later in the build project. Weeks later, the crew came out to do the build and they did a great job. Punctual, thorough, and as mentioned, built a very nice garage. Then we waited for the electrical. They had to make three trips because, 1st they did not have the correct PVC pipe after digging the trench. A week and half later, after having a deep trench left open, they returned. The journeyman electrician left the fuse box ajar, a 1/4” gap where they cut the drywall, the exterior lights on either side of the garage were hung at different heights (I had clearly marked them with masking tape as instructed by the salesperson) and screwed the base of the lights directly into the garage wall vs. using the brackets that were provided. At this point, our frustration level was pretty high. The electrical issues were fixed, and my sales person finally came out to look at the concrete. Realizing there truly was an issue with the concrete, their first solution was for us to have an epoxy floor put down. Second solution was to go halves on an epoxy floor. Neither option was acceptable as we should not have to pay for their mistake. They finally offered to take care of the floor at their cost, but at this point, we had already waited for 4 months for the garage to be complete, and frankly did not want any more of their subcontractors to do any work. After much back and forth, we finalized the invoice. Again, the garage itself is great, but there were too many issues involved with the rest of it."

"Mike & team did an excellent job in explaining what would be done, providing options on what might work best, providing detailed planning on how the install would occur, and in performing the task to lay the epoxy into the garage per schedule as indicated. I also had the lower wall below the sheet rock epoxy coated and both it and the flooring system look beyond excellent (looks like a professional shop floor). The flakes in the flooring system provides a slight bumpy surface by design, which provides good traction when wet. The system has been in place for almost five months and I have not seen any issues to date - it is holding up well against the salt & car oils."

Customers say: Quick response

"Enlisted the help of Kupferschmid Construction in installing two interior doors I bought online. The owner Darin, immediately returned my phone call and scheduled the onsite estimate the very next weekend. He was very polite and courteous and most importantly very knowledgeable. I was immediately comfortable with him. I thought his estimate was fair so I decided to hire him. He came to the house to do the work a few days after and that's when Murphy's Law struck. The pre-hung interior doors I ordered online were very contemporary and of European design and needless to say very different than any doors you will find here in Arizona. Little did I know that there were sizing discrepancies. To make the long story short these framed doors were larger than the original door openings. Darin needed to move a few studs to make the opening large enough to fit the doors and frames. Upon discovering this "surprise", Darin remained calm and never got flustered. He went to Home Depot to purchase the required 2X4s and proceeded to do the work. It took twice the amount of time and effort we expected and all through this, Darin did not even demand any additional amount saying that the contract was signed and that the agreed amount is what he will go by. I decided to give him an additional amount anyway because I thought it was just fair that he be compensated for the additional time and labor. All in all, he may have lost potential income by taking this job but you cannot tell from his demeanor. He is just one nice guy. I recommend him highly and will definitely hire him again should a need arise."

"If you are considering epoxy for your floors anywhere in your home, contact Central Illinois Epoxy! Their choices of color and texture are quite different and more than standard fleck Iâ ve been offered elsewhere. I chose deep, tonal colors for interior floors of a breezeway and garage turned climate controlled gym. I could not have been more pleased. Not only were the floors GORGEOUS, they also showed up when they said they would, completed the job in the time they estimated (*barring one unanticipated variable!), provided exceptional customer service and were willing to problem solve for the unexpected. *we live in the country. Due to the mild winter, a large number of houseflies decided they liked the look of the new epoxy on the garage/gym floor! Central IL Epoxy made sure the job met our expectations despite the uninvited guests. They go above and beyond. I would choose them again for any project."

"Look no further if you want excellent service, honesty, integrity, and the best pricing in the area! After waiting weeks for other local companies to respond, I was fortunate to find Mid-Illini and Haedickie! Sparky immediately returned my call (during family time, no less) and the very next morning Chaymen serviced our garage door opener. He immediately discovered a very minor issue (just a sensor misalignment) and informed us that the opened did not need replaced as another company had advised last year. Since we already purchased an opener and liked the modern features, we requested it be installed anyway.(Word of advice: speak to them before buying an opener in store vs through them. There are costs, warranty and ongoing maintenance advantages we wish we had known about). When completed, they even offered to take the original opener off our hands so they can provide more economic options for customers. What great community stewardship! Another deserving 5 star review for Mid-Illini and Haedickie! Thanks, team!"

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Peoria, IL

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
