"Larry and his team did a good job painting the EXTERIOR (didn’t see that option in the dropdown) of our home. His team were professional and efficient. They painted our home with Sherwin Williams Emerald paint which sealed the home in an almost rubber-like coating which is perfect. It resists dirt and bugs and sealed the home beautifully. The issue we had was where they painted Trex board on the top rail of the deck wall and it started peeling off within a couple months. It took Larry several months to make that right by sanding and re-painting (which is why I gave the previous rating), but he did stand behind his work and eventually made it right. I highly recommend the Emerald paint and can honestly say Larry’s team does professional work. My issue was with the months it took to make the rail issue right. To be fair, it was his first time using that particular paint and I was happy that he eventually made it right by doing the repairs himself."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
