"Durable door replaced the top hinges on our garage door. All seemed to work fine but after 6 weeks the hinges popped off the track again. They came back right away and replaced the hinges with heavy duty ones. The garage door is working fine. There was no extra charge the second trip. Well done."

"If you have garage door opener installation needs, this is the person for you. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Great communication, fair pricing and most importantly the work he did was meticulous and immaculate. It can be overwhelming trying to find someone you can trust to do contracted work, but it feels good knowing I have someone if I ever have any future garage door needs. Donâ t think twice. This is your garage door guy. Youâ re welcome!"

"We called TGS Garages and Doors after a spring snapped on our garage door. Steven Posner was very knowledgeable and gave us multiple options to correct the issue at different price points. He was able to fix the issue (and then some) in less than an hour. We would definitely use TGS again if needed!"

"Excellent craftsmanship and service. We needed a new frame for a new garage door, and service for the existing door for a freestanding 2 car garage. Jairo s estimate was already significantly Less than others, and he proposed exactly what was requested without any attempts to upsell to get more work. The work was completed very early and with no issues. I ve added them to my favorites for upcoming future work. Definitely worth it for basic or challenging garage door projects."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
