"Eddie is the best. Our garage went from embarrassing to spectacular. And not only was the price reasonable Eddie came out and repaired a small area that was damaged during installation of new garage doors. He didnâ t charge a thing . Highly recommend."

Small jobs welcome

"These guys were great! They gave us the best quote for our siding, and even drive to OH to pick it up from the warehouse so they could start asap. That's above and beyond. They repaired all the rotten wood and there was no detail missed. We work from home, so we got to see these guys work. I don't think I ever saw them take a break besides a quick lunch. We already have plans to hire them for several projects in the near future."

"We have not had any work done yet, but needed some help from an unbiased 3rd party because we are moving to the area from out of state. Jayme was extremely helpful in assessing the level of work that was needed to a home and his truthful responses helped shape our decision. "We hired Colorful Outlooks Painting LLC based on a referral we received. Chris the painter did not disappoint. He was reasonable, respectful, punctual, and kept us informed. He completed our ceilings and walls in our living room, kitchen, dining, and our breezeway. I look forward to working with him again!!!"

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Spring Lake, MI

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
