"I would highly recommend MR Garage Door! They contacted me right after I submitted the job & gave me a quote without trying to upsell. I was able to get them out when I wanted to have the garage springs repair done. They did a free tune up & realignment of my garage door. They explained to me some upgrades that we could do to the operation of our garage door, but there was no pressure. I was very happy with the workmanship & customer service of MR Garage Doors!"

"After contacting 4 different companies, Clinton was the only one who responded in a timely manner. He was also the only one who actually came over to look at what I needed and give me a precise estimate. The others asked a few questions over the phone or via text about the work I needed, door type and size, etc. then gave me estimates that were 30-40% higher than what Clinton gave me. My new garage door is beautiful and the work is solid. I highly recommend Oak Hills Garage Door Services to anyone who wants quality work for a reasonable price!"

"I spent $1400. They came out a second time to adjust it after I complained. Overall it was good, the owner of the business came out to reset the door because there was an issue when it got installed so he readjusted and lubricated it and everything. So it was pretty good. I didn't watch them install it but the installation was about average."

"They did an awesome job. They were on time and they very fast. We knew exactly how much everything was going to be before they the work. The amount of the free estimate was so good we couldn't pass it up. He was more responsible then other estimates. They were very friendly and professional. They also gave us a written warranty on all his work. The door is way better than it was before. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
