"Adam was professional and made some suggestions. There was no attempt to sell more than I needed. He also put a brace on the top of the garage door where it would bow for no charge. The entire repair took less than 30 minutes. Will definitely recommend to others and use them again!"

"Precision Garage Door is absolutely the best. Their products are extremely high quality, their prices are great for any project, and their install service and attention to detail is just amazing. We have used Precision for several big projects (adding new and quiet motors for classic/heavy wood doors; replacing old garage doors with brand new ones, and even installing high-end contemporary garage doors to match the modern construction style of a brand new house). Precision Garage Door can do it all, and we highly recommend this company."

"Tech came out to give me quote for a new garage door and opener. He gave me several options and even told me the garage door was in decent shape and could wait to be replaced if I wanted to. Very honest and straight forward."

"More than a detached garage, it serves as a woodworking shop which needed to conform to HOA covenants and match the style and detail of adjacent home. Mike and crew were exceptional. I am very please with the final product. Quality of work was excellent. Changes in details which deviated from original plan and contract were negotiated and accommodated. Quality of materials used and attention to details of fit and final appearance inside and out exceeded expectations. Work crews were courteous and considerate that they were working at my home. Job site was kept orderly and construction debris removed in a timely manner. Mike was very communicative of current status and next steps in the construction. He took time to answer question and offered suggestions for improvements not detailed in the original design (done by 3rd-party). Overall, excellent experience and a product that exceeded my expectations."

"The owner was very punctual he showed ready to go, he was very friendly, I was most impressed how clean he kept the work area. He painted my two door garage and he epoxy the garage floors. The second time I hired him he painted our large water fountain. I will be hiring him again for another project."

Small jobs welcome

"When we bought our home, we searched for someone skilled who could handle a wide range of projects for us. We were lucky to find Kramer and have hired him several times, most recently for a full gut and remodel of our master bathroom. Kramer does wonderful work, is great to be around, and is absolutely honest. We have seen that he does everything with integrity and hope to hire him for many more projects in the future."

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Albuquerque, NM

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
