"Charles and Rachel did a great job. They immediately recognized the problem and took care of it. They had experience with our equipment (geothermal), and recommended other services available from McGinley that we would benefit from. We recommend them without hesitation."

"They are really good. I had four guys out here for, like three days. They put in a great heat pump real easily. Not only did they put in a new furnace, but the ducting that was in here at the house was, like, 30 years old so they tore it out and re-did it with custom ducting made out of big sheets of metal. They only charged me $3,000 for the furnace. I am glad I did because it has made a huge difference in the air quality here. They came out yesterday. They said they would be back for the winter servicing. I have an oil backup so they were out for a number of hours yesterday. They will service it for the next 10 years and it is under warranty for 10 years too. They are great guys. Frank Ford is the owner of it. He and his guys do excellent work and really care. Their prices are as good as anybody. The price depends on what unit you get so it is hard to say. These guys are terrific. I would say if you needed a new heat pump or furnace they should be number one on your list.

"I have had problems with my furnace locking up ever since UGI-Miller worked on the gas line near our house. Rohrerâ s has been incredibly great, thorough and patient at coming out, trouble-shooting, and getting the furnace working, despite the problem probably not being caused by their system. UGI-Miller on the other hand, never responded to repeated calls."

"We have used Dzo countless times for a new system servicing, and now coming out multiple times to check on our systems, especially before the big storm we have coming this weekend. We are blown away by the professionalism and the knowledge they shared with us as well as prepping for the storm, I can't imagine using another company for our HVAC needs."

"Horizon came right on time on July 4 to install a much needed heating/cooling system. The installers were wonderful! Polite, friendly and worked very hard in that awful heat. They completed the installation by 4:00, which included cleanup and instructions on my new thermostat. The price was a little more than I initially wanted to pay, but the service and the system work great. The only negative is that when the compressor kick on, itâ s rather loud. A service man came out and said that is â normalâ ."

"Everyone was great and I love my new system! My neighbor had one installed, too"

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.
Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.
With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.
The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.
Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.
An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.
An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
