"I thought my furnace went out so I called chance because he was recommended by a fellow (church Member). He came out the same day and diagnosed the problem as a faulty thermostat. He installed a new one and now my furnace works! He was very knowledgeable and thorough in explaining the issues and I’m very grateful for his help. I will definitely hire him again."

"Very prompt in responding to my initial inquiry (Sunday no less) and salesman was terrific. Installation took 2 full days by a team that seemed professional and knowledgeable. I was shocked however by the fact that 2 men on the installation team smoked all day long. My property is rural with no fire hydrants - the prospect of fire is terrifying to me. At the end of the 2 days the system was installed but it took an additional technician coming out after the crew had left to get the system functional."

"Rick was excellent from the initial consult and estimate to the installation. He was very knowledgeable and took his time explaining things to me. (I always have a lot of questions). Heâ s a personable and highly capable owner who handles the repairs and installation himself. My furnace was 24 years old and when it finally went kaput. Rick was a pleasure to do business with."

Customers say: Super punctual

"I called 3 vendors, one in Napa, one in Sonoma (Boden) and one in Concord (about 26 miles away). The Napa vendor didn't even bother to come out and preferred to do a ballpark by phone. While the Concord vendor was extremely friendly and helpful, I did realize that the company was regional (west coast) and although the cost was significantly less, I chose Boden plumbing for the following reasons: Boden is a local, family owned company Their service was extremely prompt, friendly, professional and courteous. They were out the next day for the estimate and arrived when they said they would. Their product (Bradford-White) is top rated by contractors (did a lot of research) and made in the USA. Lastly, they have a 6 year FULL product and service warranty - any problem, they'll take care of. Although I spent a little more money than I would have with the Concord company, the warranty is by far worth it. I believe it's important to support local businesses, especially family owned and especially during these hard economic times. I would like others to keep this in mind when choosing a vendor. They worked quickly, and left no mess whatsoever. Lastly, they helped show me the basics of my new hot water heater and offered to help any time I had questions. I highly recommend Boden Plumbing for replacing your hot water heater. In the future, I will be calling this company for any other plumbing needs I have. These guys were just great!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Santa Rosa, CA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
