"We have had a heat pump with individual units in 6 rooms for 3 years. The installation by another company was good, but the system never worked because of a leak that the installer never figured out. We hired Total Home Environmental, in part because of their fast response to my Home Advisor application. Within a couple days they had the problem diagnosed, and 2 days later Nate and Cesar located the leak, fixed the leak, and the system has never run better as an AC unit. I'm confident it will work as a heater in the winter months, thanks to Gordon and Nate Brown."

"After recovering from a horrendous experience with Service Champions (NEVER EVER call them), I got several other quotes to completely replace my old AC system. Brandon and HD had the most competitive quote, great reviews and were very personable and professional. They installed entire new system and did a great job in a timely manner. I highly recommend!"

"We had a great experience with SoCalboys Heating and Air — solid 4/5 stars. George helped us upgrade to a Goodman heat pump, move the furnace to the attic (we gained a closet!), and add ceiling returns to improve airflow. He listened carefully, offered smart options, and never pushed. George and his apprentice were calm and friendly — even with our very loud dogs. Install day had a couple hiccups: gates and doors left open, and a heavy storage bin left on the attic drywall (thankfully it didn’t fall through). But George’s follow-through made the difference. He answered all my (many) questions, came back to double-check everything, and even threw in a thermostat due to scheduling delays. He’s also helping us navigate rebates like HEERHA to reduce the total cost. The system’s only been in a short while, but already feels quieter and more balanced. If you want small-business care, honest advice, and next-level communication, SoCalboys is a great pick."

"Paul came to my home on the hottest days of the year even though he was extremely busy! Even though it was so late for him after a long day of service calls, he made the time to come by and fixed us from the miserable heat! Despite that, Paul was so professional and kind! He definitely goes above and beyond beyond!"

"Pete was very knowledgeable and was able to provide sound arguments for why he thought I should go with a split system instead of a heat pump and why I shouldn't locate the equipment where I wanted it. Then at the end of the day he stepped up with the best pricing for the same scope of work as another HVAC contractor I spoke with from Home Adivor."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Villa Park, CA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
