"We were able to schedule same-day service for a furnace that had stopped heating. Technician called 45 minutes ahead of arrival, and arrived on time. He checked furnace, identified the problem, and solved it in a few minutes. Furnace started and ran properly. We have a service contract with Cool-Ray and have used them continuously for over 20 years for all our home heating and air conditioning services."

"My thermostat was not working for almost a week. I hired several techs, but they could not figure out the problem. Yesterday I found Le from the home advisor, he came there, and he fixed the problem. Now my thermostat and furnace are both up and running."

"I recently had an electrical inspection done by TE Certified Electrical, Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, and I couldn’t be more impressed. From the moment the technician arrived, the experience was professional, thorough, and reassuring. They took the time to explain everything they found in a way that was easy to understand, and I felt confident I was in good hands. What stood out most was their attention to detail—they didn’t just check the basics, they inspected the entire system to ensure my home was safe and up to code. No high-pressure sales, just honest advice and helpful recommendations. I’ll absolutely be using TE Certified again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-tier electrical service."

"Went well. The attic stairs we’re broken while removing / installing new furnaces. Dayco without any delay ordered new stairs to be installed. We had an issue with not using material to cover hardwood floors and did get some small scratches. We did review this complaint and they did offer to send a flooring co to repair"

"I called R.Wiley, Heating and Air, and Leonard came out right away. Rather than immediately telling me that I needed to replace the system because it was so old, he searched first what the problem could be. He replaced a part, but it turned out that this was not going to work very well because my furnace was just too old. It helped a bit but it was only a temporary fix to keep the furnace going for a while longer. We then decided that I would have to replace the system. He did NOT charge me for the part or for the service call! The price he quoted for a new system, was very reasonable, and on top of that, he gave me a discount because I am a service contract client. Then, two days later, because of the very cold weather, my system decided to quit altogether on Saturday morning. I left a message on Leonards phone asking if they could come out the next Monday to install the new furnace instead of the Tuesday we had agreed on. He called me back a few hours later and told me that they had made some arrangements with the supplier of the furnace and that they would COME OUT THE NEXT DAY WHICH WAS A SUNDAY!!!! They installed the system on Sunday and in the evening my house was comfortably warm again! This is amazing service that you don't see very often! It made me bless the day I signed the service contract with R. Wiley Heating and Air a few years ago! I Can really recommend this company for its courteous, friendly, and professional service!"

"Absolutely the best experience ever with a service company any type. Shawn Morris assisted us with every aspect of selection and our decision on replacement of our upstairs Trane system. I put him through the ringer with a multitude of questions and system configurations to quote. Shawn was courteous and timely in each and every response. Installation by Rodney English and Lee Henderson was very timely and professional as well. No doubt that when our downstairs system is in need of replacement we will be turning one again to Ragsdale Heating and Air."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Decatur, GA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
