They came out the next day on time and proceeded to do the install. They were very helpful as they explained what they were doing. Insulation batting was put on the walls with radiant barrier sheeting, everything was sealed, and super substantial blown in isolation was added on all the flooring. They went above and beyond to complete the project with some extras added for free! The clean-up was accomplished so you would never know they were there. "This was the smartest home improvement decision that we've made! After putting up with exorbitant electric bills, particularly in summer months, we finally did something about it. Our upstairs air handling unit (attic location) had always struggled to control temperature, and at times seemed to run continuously to keep up. Those days are over. The excellent professionals at Lone Star transformed our attic into an unvented, conditioned attic using open-cell spray foam. We're expecting much lower electric bills in future months and years. The immediate differences noticed have been noteworthy. Prior to foaming, the delta between the attic and upstairs hallway was 30-35 degrees. It was unbearable in the attic. Afterwards, the delta is amazingly only a couple degrees! This makes so much sense, we truly now have one conditioned environment, any small system leakage stays within the envelope, rather than cooling the great outdoors! It is quite comfortable in the attic now, and the two air handling units there work much less hard. The upstairs unit now easily maintains upstairs temperature with normal cycling, as mentioned, this was not the case before. We have also noticed a significant improvement in the humidity throughout the house, a major bonus! The system efficiency has been greatly improved. So happy we made this decision. Can't say enough about the folks at Lone Star, they are all knowledgeable, courteous, and very professional. "A preliminary estimate was made and a follow up on site to confirm the requirement of material. The estimate was free and accurate. Once a formal estimate was sent to me I was asked if I wanted to continue the process. Once I accepted the bid, they were able to order materials and schedule the work. The work was performed carefully and professionally (covering boxes and equipment I had stored in the attic). The work was completed in less than a full day (we had rain showers that helped keep the attic from being too hot to perform the work). The attic has a gable fan set to energize at 112 degrees F. and would start before noon and run until 11:00pm before the roof decking was insulated. It’s been two weeks since the job was completed and the attic fan hasn’t had to run at all. My central unit runs about three to four cycles per hour. My energy usage has dropped from running between an average home to efficient home to a totally energy efficient home and I run a pool pump from 11:00 at night to 6:00am. There were rooms with “warm spots”, depending on their relationship to the height of the ceiling to relative proximity to the roof. Now there are no warm spots and the house remains well balanced in temperature. I fully recommend this business."
