"We were searching for a paint contractor with experience locally. Our home is over 110 years old, and a contributing property in a historic district. We had a specific vision on what we wanted done. After obtaining multiple interview and bids from contractors, we “connected” with Melin, as he shared our vision. They were meticulous with attention to details in the prep work, and exacting with executing our paint scheme. The team treated our house like their own. "It went very well. I’d give them an A minus. They were eager to do the work this fall (compared to a couple of other Angie’s List A rated companies that also provided bids in September). The job estimator gave very clear explanations about paint products, pricing, work crew, job staging and timing, etc. The work crew arrived promptly each day, worked continuously, cleaned up after themselves very carefully, and most importantly did very good work. The one shortfall was the lack of any English speaking skills among the daily work crew (it was a two to three day job), which made it awkward or impossible to communicate while the guys were actually doing the work. When they completed the work and left me a partially used paint can, I noticed that they had used a different paint than what had been quoted. (Acccoring to the Internet, this substituted paint was a very good product, but not quite as premium as what had been quoted). Due to the language barrier they were unable to understand the question or explain what had happened. I contacted the job estimator, who seemed mystified how/why a paint product substitution had occurred. After confirming the paint substitution with the work crew, he immediately called me back to tell me that he would have them come back the next day to repaint with the originally quoted product, at no additional cost to me, and this happened as promised. I discussed the language barrier with the job estimator when he came back In person to review the completed work with me. I recommended that they require at least one competent English language speaker be included in every work crew. This is a family owned business that has something like 30-40 employees, so there are multiple work crews. We had between 2 and 5 guys working on our job from start to finish."
