He not only took the time to do things right, he took the time to go over everything with us in detail. Bob replaced a handful of mahogany boards on our deck, installed two new light fixtures—bedroom and front porch— built a fence gate, repaired a broken stair baluster, installed a ceiling fan, replaced a rotted board on our shed, and gave us lots of advice and idea for future projects. The existing kitchen was demolished. Joe sent us to a granite showroom with a huge inventory. When we found a piece we really liked, he sent us to a kitchen designer he uses who suggested what color cabinets to go with the granite, and suggested what color tiles to look for. Then it was on to the tile store, where we found the perfect tile for the kitchen floor and tile for the front entrance. My husband and I are not good at picturing how things will look, so we needed and asked for a lot of advice at all these places. Joe's input was really helpful here also. People who know exactly what they want in terms of color will find this piece a breeze, but we needed a lot of help. Everything looks fabulous, and the kitchen is unbelievable easy to work in. Joe was responsive to my concerns about efficient use of kitchen space, and suggested a counter-depth fridge, which totally solved the problem. We picked out the appliances ourselves. This was the third kitchen Joe had done for us (he did one at a summer home, and one in the home we sold before we bought the condo), so he pretty much knew what we wanted. We were able to use excess granite from the counters to make a kitchen table.

There were numerous unanticipated plumbing and electrical problems with the unit. In one case, wiring in the wall had been covered with several layers of plaster for no apparent reason. Joe took care of it.

The unit has a huge "great room" with high ceilings, and we had no idea what to do with the space. Joe helped us work out the lighting and furniture arrangement so we split the room (with no walls) into a living room, dining room, and small library. We are thrilled with the result!

.I really can't say enough good things about Redman Construction. He comes what he says he'll come, does what he says he'll do, comes up with creative solutions, finishes projects on time and on budget, and stands behind his work. He and his crew take great pride in their work. My kids used him to renovate their basement a few years ago. When I asked if they'd gotten other bids, my daughter-in-law said, "Why would I get other bids? Everyone I talk to about construction has horror stories. This man has done three major projects for you, and you think he walks on water." If people have specific questions, I would be happy to try to answer them."

"The job went well, very brief and surprisingly inexpensive. (I understand everyone has to live, so I expected to pay for a livelihood, but I was delighted to have my wallet only lightly crimped.) Bertie Walsh arrived around the agreed time.  I gave him the two grab bars the VA decided I needed in my bathing area, an old retired vet in a wheelchair, like me. I live alone, in a condo, so I needed a handyman to install them.
I'm glad I had a professional person install them because, even if I were fit, I surely would have botched the job. This place was cut up into condos in 1987. It used to be just a red brick factory-- originally constructed around the turn of the 20th century to work with Brockton by making those metal lacing eyelets for boots. They used metal--not plywood--when they cut the factory into apartments like mine (Bertie Walsh later explained to me). If I were doing the job myself I would have been expecting wooden studs behind the tile--which would have been full of exploratory holes when I got done.
So, I pointed to the bathroom, assured myself that Bertie Walsh had all he needed, and went to finish watching the program I had on, wondering what I had to offer Mr. Walsh when he broke for lunch soon. How pleased I was when that time arrived and he said the job was done and that I only owed him $50!
Bertie Walsh explained to me that the grab bars were firm, but that he had to install them in the metal. Should they loosen, over time, do not risk injury, by all means call him.
